I'm in the area next week and thinking about watching the game if time allows. Is it pay on the day, or is there some other arrangement for neutrals to wander up?
Hardly any tickets sold and not all the ground being opened up so I would guess you will be able to pay on the day no problems. Enjoy the game matey and give us a cheer
I've paid on the gate for all the home cup matches, apart from Arsenal and Man City. Not sure how it will be now with the electronic gates though, might be worth calling the ticket office to be sure.
You have to have a club membership to buy tickets this season, so you will need to purchase one for free from the website. It's a new system and its absolutely terrible, i ordred mine for the walsall game and it still hasnt turned up in 9 days. If you go on the Stoke site you will be able to get more info or just ring them up.
As far as I know though, you can order and pick up tickets from the ground (that's what I did for Kiev and Valencia last season)
Hmm, doesn't sound promising. I won't know if I can make until about 6:30pm and it'll be then that I find out if others are going. If I get chance (or remember) I'll ring your club and see if they can clarify. Why do Clubs (not just yours) make it so difficult to turn up and watch a game of football? I'm guessing that by controlling tickets, they can reduce the numbers that the Police insist on bringing to a game, and the savings cover the loss from casual supporters.
I can't imagine there is going to be hardly anyone there so I can't forsee them turning away a paying customer!
I telephoned your ticket office yesterday and a polite and helpful lady said she didn't know if they're opening a cash turnstile yet, but if not I'll be able to get tickets from the office on the night. Maybe see you there. Now, as a sporting person, do I hope you go through or do I back the underdog?
DMD I would imagine that the (away end) will be for Walsall fans only! So, if you turn up on the night you will be given a ticket to sit with the Stoke fans as Walsall's will have been sent to their stadium! I've heard that Main Stand will be open and it's a (sit anywhere ticket) ENJOY the game and good luck for the season.
Well, we went. My opinion as a neutral? With the usual caveats of it being just one game, and a cup one at that. Walsall played some nice football and looked organised, but Stokes defenders had the edge. Stoke had the better players man for man, but seemed disorganised and lacking a game plan. The play maker seemed to be the keeper. All in all I enjoyed it.
That's fair enough DMD But, considering we had a few new faces on show, I thought overall it was a decent game from Stoke and performance. A bit disjointed at times but Hughes made a lot of changes he may not have. Had this been against (no offence to Walsall who played very well) Premier League player's he would have stuck to a more ridged game plan. Give Hughes time and I can see already a massive improvement is certain player's. Assaidi making his debut at very short notice did well as did our recent signing Muneisa. Good luck for this season DMD.
