Wow that is quite telling. But look at Man U, the most successful club in Premiership history so far. Their most expensive season ticket is still £35 cheaper than our cheapest season ticket. But look at our most expensive matchday ticket, it's a whopping £126, compared with the next nearest at £87!
I hope you've factored how teams grade matches and how many games you get for your season ticket. Everyone likes to talk about the £126 ticket but this is the price of 500 tickets for 5 games a season unless the club categorises certain cup matches as category "A" Did you know that on a match by match basis our cheapest season ticket is cheaper that the cheapest at Anfield or that our most expensive is cheaper than the most expensive at Spurs ?
Another thing people forget it we don't have to pay for seats with extremely limited views like fans of other clubs do.
Sure it probably has a bit of that Grauniad datablog anti-capitalist selective data thing going on as is usual with them, but as a baseline I meant it just for the comparison with Chelsea. And it doesn't go into the specifics, Chelsea fans can maybe tell us what their season tickets factor in.
It's a very simple table for showing ticket prices.Perhaps people should go into specifics when they start talking about ticket prices. Stamford Bridge has a capacity of approx. 41,000.For the vast majority of games Arsenal sell approx. 25,000 tickets at £38 or less
Warning, outsider here!! But if you had experienced negotiators you'd realise that at that time there was no one else in for him, you had the player to yourselves. That was the time to stop penny pinching and swallow an additional 4 Mil in order to do the deal straight away. That would send a sign to the player you truly wanted him as a first choice. But no you went for the speculative option and screwed that up as well with the notorious Pound. Whether you like it or not the market is what the market is and to get the right players you're going to have to spend more than you would have 2/3 years ago. I'm sure of 2 things: Arsene didn't sleep a wink the night you offered the 40M +1 to Liverpool in fear they accepted and He's not sleeping a wink wondering WTF happened to Financial Fair Play You're going to have to forgive the amount of voyeurs on here it's just that this is pure drama and I'm trying to mean that in the least condecending manner, but it just is.
Nice post! I must admit as a disciple I am suffering a lack of faith right now. I still think the man is the best football-wise. Unfortunately we seem to have turned in to the team everybody loves to hate. Not sure why that is exactly. I also think it is odd, that we seem to have a problem with the FA and officials as well, even though we seem to be producing the core of the England team, and are being run in a way that they the FA say a team should be run. Finally I think the club (and Wenger) have underestimated the need for PR. We probably need to sign some aging superstar for over the odds, just to appease the fans, even if it makes no footballing sense, or financial sense. Just blow 50M for a 15M player and shut everyone up.
The referee's performance on Saturday was alarming, but one fan made an excellent point in one of the post-match videos - we went 49 games unbeaten contending with officiating like Taylor's on Saturday. Now we lack the quality on the pitch to win even the first game of the season at home against a team that came close to being relegated last season. We were that good that dodgy refereeing barely got us out of stride. You deal with the hand you're given. 2nd part of your post was sensationalist. Do you think we'd be up in your arms if we'd at least added a couple of 20million players like Gustavo and Bernard to the squad? The idea that there's no middle ground in the transfer market has been exposed as a lie.
I am still undecided on how and Wenger should go, but go he will eventually. What the people who are calling for his head now have consistently and persistently failed to have done is offered any sensible suggestion as to who would replace him. I can't think of anyone that is suitable and available now that would immediately redress the situation to the levels that some of the more hysterical are demanding.
I don't think Arsenal have become the "team people love to hate", it's more to do with the staggering levels of contempt Wenger and/or the board hold your fans in. You pay top dollar prices and have been grossly underachieving for a long time now. The whole £1 thing really just sums up Arsenal right now, you have become quite the joke of the league and people are just poking fun really, I don't think Arsenal are that hated if you ask me. Half my family are gunners so I follow Arsenals news and happenings as well... it's tragic how far you have fallen from grace..
Add him to the long list of names like Fat Sam, Harry Redknapp, Owen Coyle and the other mugs that have been suggested to take over from Wenger
I think it is a little odd to say that I am wrong and then have you say, "But we do hate you and it is completely justified." How aren't "Staggering levels of contempt" the same as hate?
I remember the owen coyle bandwagon well, it was crazy the amount of people claiming we should get him in to replace wenger
Obviously the onus is on the WOB to provide realistic suggestions to replace Arsene, but I'm curious to know from those that support him. If we lost tonight and he packed it in, who would you want to succeed him?
I doubt there's anyone who would want to switch clubs this late. I think we're stuck with Wenger until at least Christmas. However, if you want suggestions, I'd take Frank de Boer (Ajax) and possibly even Michael Laudrup. Further down the line, perhaps Klopp would want a change after this season.
I think you will find that we will have a similar difficulty attracting a top manager as we have had attracting top players. At present, our squad is valued 5th in the league and we can't buy our way higher. Most clubs are asking for roughly double what their players are worth. So we have fans that expect to win, when we are the 5th most likely club to win any domestic competition. You are asking a manager to come in and win when he has about a 10% chance of success (at most). The top managers aren't stupid, they will know this.
