Against Switzerland. Lucky to get a draw. The fact Milner and Walcott start for England is just depressing. Both have been useless every time i've seen them for club and country. If Etherington and Pennant, who have performed consistently very well for their club, played for a more fashionable club, then there's no doubt they'd be playing for England no doubt. Wilshere is one of three players (Young and Baines the other 2) to come out of the game with any credit in my opinion, worked hard, tracked back, did some good passes, played one superb pass, and actually looked like he gave a monkeys unlike the majority of the others.

Agree Sgt don't really know what Etherington or Pennant have to do to get a call up.Walcott never seems to make a impact .Milner works hard without any end product.

    ------------Hart-----------
    Smalling--Ferdinand--Cahill--Baines/Cole
    -----------Rodwell------------
    Young--Gerrard--Wilshere--A. Johnson
    ------------Rooney------------

The team I would choose. Thoughts?

In the future Chris Smalling will become an England regular i'm sure but he's not ready just yet. Good call on Rodwell though.

    I'd choose:

    ------------Hart-----------
    Johnson--Dawson--Cahill--Cole
    -----------Rodwell------------
    Young--Gerrard--Wilshere--Johnson
    ------------Rooney------------

Plus I would have Matty and Jermaine ahead of Milner and Walcott for sure. Wingers are supposed to be able to cross the ball instead of running at a defender and hope he makes a mistake, which is all Walcott seems to do, plus Milner, who is a good trier but I'm really not convinced by him at International level, he gets shown up all too often.

Montenegro concede their first goal of the campaign, meaning they only draw and we're still top of the group on goal difference.

    Correct Sgt
That England performance was no where near good enough. Wilshere I thought he was excellent<ok> Milner like Barry isn't even good enough IMHO.

Team if fit I would play

    Hart

    Johnson Cahill Terry Cole
    Young Gerrard Wilshere Johnson
    Rooney Defoe

Why Capello keeps messing around with fringe? player's we'll never win anything.

On a good note though, being part Irish, plus one of my brothers is marrying into an Irish family, I love seeing Ireland doing well in sport. And tonight they beat Macedonia 2-0 away from home which is a great result, Macedonia is a tough place to go. Ireland are 3rd currently on 13 points, Slovakia are top with 13 and Russia are 2nd with 13 also. Each team has 4 games left, so all to play for for Ireland.
Also, it was I believe our very own Glenn Whelan's 28th cap for his country tonight, all of which have come whilst at Stoke. The highest number of International caps achieved by a Stoke player whilst still at the club is 37 for Banksy, so it is very much possible than Glenn could get this record.

Terrible performance from a terrible side. Theres only Young, Wilshere, Ferdinand and Ashley cole that I think are good enough out of the starting 11. Lets bring in some u21 players who will be itching to play well and will give 100%. As for Walcott and Milner I really dont understand why he shags them both. How many good games do they have?. Walcott never seems to have the ball under control and looks clueless when he has time on the ball. Milner is just a million miles away from international level and every week he is at Man city he should be licking Mancinis balls for keeping him!!!. Im starting to get really embarassed about England as we are supposed to have the best league in the world but we are ****e when all the ENGLISH players play together. There is only one conclusion you can come to and that is that its largely the foreign players in the prem which makes it the best league in the world. We need to bring in the 6 English players in the starting 11 law so that we can have more options. As you can tell im really pissed off and am getting ****ing sick of the same ****ing excuses..........."were tired"........"weve had a tough season" etc..........Youre playing in Wemberley for ENGLAND infront of 90000 fans qualifying for the second biggest tournament in the world. If I was good enough they would have to carry me off at the end of the game but a lot of the English players didnt even look like they broke sweat. To summarise we were VEREY VERY lucky to get a draw and unless something drastically changes we will be lucky to qualify. ****ING PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

England were terrible!!!!! It infuriates me how gloryhunting England fans remember "all the good" times and don't take the rough with the smooth. And BOY was this rough.

Saw Englands second goal, okay, that wasn't too bad. But to be only drawing 2-2 with A SIDE LIKE THAT isn't on.

I don't actual mind Fabio, he doesn't seem a bad manager, obviously I would or prefer someone at least British to manage us, but still.... tonight I think was not good enough, managerial decisions and players performance. They need shaking up for the rest of Europe.

Well, Ireland were just as lucky to get 3 points against Macedonia. A missed Macedonian penalty, another penalty that should have been, a superb reaction save from Given, and then both our goals were very flukey, a big loopy deflection from a Keane shot, and an absolute suicide pass in the centre of defence straight to Robbie. I really don't like playing Macedonia, the memories of them ruining qualification for 1998 and 2000 are still a little raw!

I think, especially as septic splatter was voted in for four more years at fifa,we should disassociate ourselves from fifa and use the time to suss what really is wrong with our team and get ourselves an english manager.

We played crap,no vision and no pride and we were lucky to get a draw, I know a few have said how well wilshire played..but he should still be in the u21s and not making out he is too tired for the u21s but can play in the senior team.

We have enough english players in the PL to fill the team but most are in 'unfashionable' teams and for some reason don't warrant a chance.

rant over........Hi everyone, hope alls well

With the rabidness of the press in the UK, no manager is going to risk calling up a player from an unfashionable club. You can guarantee that the morons at the Sun and the News of the World would ruin their pants at the prospect of dragging a manager over the coals for not picking "Stevie G", or "Roo", or "Lamps", or any other one of the celebrity footballers who consistently fail to perform.

It shows how anonymous Lampard is for England that I didn't notice he was playing until the penalty!!

Dont talk to me about lampard, hes one of the most over rated players ever to play for England. Most of his goals are penalties, scuffed shots or deflections. He might play well for chelsea (or do the foreign players make him look good) but for England hes terrible. I hope I never see him in an England shirt again!!!!!!!!!!!!. By the way did anyone see his freekick it nearly hit the corner flag....how embarassing!!.

I think we are all fine mate you too I hope?
Only one more week at work for me then, I'm finished. wish I had retired last year but I guess, unlike that pathetic bunch last night som of us have the balls too keep going when it gets tough.

    Ric,
Fully agree with you comments. That was a ****ing joke of a game. Wilshere did ok but what really hacks me off. Wenger said he would burn out? FF Sake, he could have played for the u21s but was pulled out of the squad. Whilst he is no doubt a good player. Shows how BAD we were when Wilshere was one of the few too stand out last night. If Stoke played like that, I would be asking for T.P. too be sacked. At least we play with guts and have a go. England simple, same old same old. Just turn up and that's it. Well Fabio, like Septic Bladder you should leave now and thanks for erm nothing.

Ryan, Etherington, Pennant and other young England u21s should be given a chance. PATHETIC and the sooner we get another English manager the better.

Although i promised myself i would never watch england again after the debacle that was the world cup, i of course watched the game, why why why do i bother, disgraceful performance, and for capello to come out and say they were tired, give me a break would ya, we need a british manager in there asap someone who can instill a bit of pride and get the players motivated (not that they should need it playing for there country) because this guy just dont cut it, when he was appointed i thought it was an excellent choice, how wrong can you be,.

As others have said Milner,Walcott shouldnt be playing, but also glen johnson imo, heres how i would like to see it.

    Hart
    Richards Terry Cahill Cole
    Gerrard Wilshere
    Lennon Rooney Young
    Crouch

On a lighter note, our old friend covfox has posted an article on a diff forum and hes had zero responses because we are all here lol, arrrrrrrrrrr, he must be lonely <ok>

stokie76 couldnt agree more mate. Crouch has an unbelievable goal ratio and yet people keep saying "yes, but he doesnt look like a footballer"...... who gives a **** as long as he sticks the ball in the back of the net!!!!. I also like the team you have named there, the only one im not sure about is Terry. I just feel he has lost a yard of pace and looks troubled easily. I dont know who would replace him though but you wouldnt go far wrong after that performance with Shawcross. Come on Capello after that give the lad a chance!!!.

Peadar,we need an english manager with the balls to stick a rotating middle finger up to the press and pick who he wants from whichever club and league.

When a manager has that sort of strength....he will get the players who really will show great pride for the england shirt..and not these waste of spaces we've got at the moment.

Pottermouth, I'm fine mate just hacked like you over another t-watty performance.
