QPR Boss Harry Redknapp Hopes To Sign Free Agent Chris Baird by Steven Green August 20th, 2013 Chris Baird Hoops boss looking at Northern Ireland international. QPR manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he is hoping to be able to bring midfielder Chris Baird to the club following his exit from west London neighbours Fulham this summer, Sky Sports reports. Now a free agent, the 31-year-old is currently out of work and would be able to link up with Rangers at any time, and a move would likely suit both parties as he has been training with the club following his exit from Craven Cottage. He had been training with QPR in a bid to keep his fitness up and place himself in the shop window after a number of Premier League teams were reported to be interested in taking him on board, but so far no moves have materialised and signing on under Redknapp could now be his most viable option. Redknapp has already stated that he wants to bring in an experienced defender to help steady the ship as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking and the former Spurs manager has admitted that he is a fan of the 61-cap Northern Irish international. âI like Chris Baird,â he said. âHe knows what heâs doing and heâs a good player. Iâd like to do something with him.â
This is last weeks news. Harry mentioned it last week ... probably in the hope that West Ham or Stoke would come in for him and stop him pinching all the good biscuits in the tea room after training.
As Eamon says, old news. Lazy journalism. He will probably drag his feet until 30 minutes before the window closes. Can't blame the bloke for wanting a PL club.
Thinking about this. As he is unattached I don't think the transfer window applies. I'm sure someone will put me right.
If he is a 'free agent' .................... why have we heard the same story for the past two weeks ....................... stop talking, sign him or move on! For once, as a fan, I'd like to hear that 'we have just sign 'Joe Blogs' and not even know such a deal was imminent.
He'd do a decent job for us. I just hope we don't sign players on stupid contracts like the last time we were in the Championship, Hulse for example.
He only cares about the money, hed have signed by now if it was about anything else. Time to move onto someone else because hes not the right type.
