Now I don't mind Holloway, he's always good for a sound bite and he clearly does something right to get both Palace and Blackpool promoted, but his comments after the Spurs game were ridiculous. He claims a (dubious) foul should have been given and because it wasn't they then conceded the penalty. The penalty was conceded nearly 2 minutes after the "Foul" (Which in my opinion was a strong shoulder barge and totally fine) so how he can complain is beyond me. Glad he got a fine. feel he might be playing up to his reputation!
The man's a fecking clown, a prat of the highest order IMO, when it was rumoured that he might have been taking over from PL I didn't sleep until we had appointed our new manager.
Think he was just deflecting attention from a pretty dire game of football in which palace threatened minimally, I personally thought the way spurs played would be perfect to exploit. I reckon he thought so too, thats why he had 3 strikers on the pitch at the end and still very little threat.
Agree with what he said though Remember vs Arsenal last year? Some Refs really don't mind screwing over the "Little guys"
I think he should shut his mouth and concerntrate on keeping his team up. I like him generally but he needs to stop making a prat out of himself and get on with the task at hand.
Gets his shouting in straight away. Takes a hit from the authorities. Refs aware that he'll put the spotlight on them no matter what. How many 50/50 decisions has he now influenced over the season? Crazy like a fox is my opinion.
He can be an idiot but he is just being clever on this occasion. As has been said he may now of influenced a few decisions by claiming they were hard done by in the opening game. If it works is another matter of course.
First of all, I don't see how anyone can argue that that wasn't a foul, no matter how unimportant the decision to not give it really was. Secondly, he's just deflecting attention away from his team's poor performance. And thirdly, he's got a bloody point! There's a real case of double standards in this league at times and the linesmen are ****ing terrible.
I agree that the officiating can be seem pretty biased at times. Maybe he is being clever, but it was a terrible example. Palace had possession 2 times after that and still conceded the penalty.
He is playing up to his own label now and in danger of becoming a parody of himself. He was great with Blackpool but I think he knows that this Palace squad hasn't got a chance and his outburst on Sunday was embarrasing.
Personally I would rather listen to Hollowell than the prattling on of Bruce,Hughes,Wenger,Pardew,Rednapp etc etc etc. The guy is correct in highlighting the bias towards top clubs.
i don't think for one moment that officials are intentionally biased towards bigger clubs, but there's little doubt they are more likely to be swayed to give a 50/50 decision to manchester united than to crystal palace. it's been like that for as long as i can remember though
