Purely stating my none usage of it, I've never referred to them as AFC and I'm not going to start now.
Not many seem too bothered about the name change... "The club said it had only received 20 emails complaining about the name and was due to respond to those yesterday." http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...ans-with-plan-to-change-club-s-name-1-5967559
There has been a statement from CI, Amber Nectar, Ulltras and Tiger Chat - in all, seven groups, as the article makes clear. The emails are merely 'personal' extras.
I received another email from Nick Thompson, which besides talking about the game, said: "As I tried to explain in my email I very much believe that ‘City’ is the link between our tradition and our future and as such is very important to me personally. So we will do our best to ensure that we recognise our heritage." I suggested they should have an interview with Nick, Ehab and Dr Allam so this could be sorted out once and for all.
I think Nick Thompson and Ehab want to retain 'City', but Assem wants rid (to piss off Hull City Council).
Even if that's the case, and he is working on Assem from within, its not exactly professional for NT to be saying stuff like "I very much believe that ‘City’ is the link between our tradition and our future" to the public when the Chairman sees it as "irrelevant".
Look at it from Nick's point of view. If he was telling the truth then it looks like he was lying when you read what Assem Allam had to say. I can understand him wanting to set the record straight. I don't see anything wrong with making that clear. People in an organisation can have different views but accept that it's the owner's right to do what he wants however silly.
For what its worth I've emailed the Club twice (actually to a guy called James Mooney, Marketing Director) and received polite responses to both messages. Lets clear one thing up though - Allam Snr calls all the shots - Ehab and Nick Thompson are just puppets. He's still got a personal vendetta with Terry Geriatric having recently said that all he's done is blow up a block of flats (or words to that effect). Hasn't the old man also said recently that it is he that has paid all the bills not the supporters and therefore he can do what he wants (again para phrased) As a so called philanthropist he certainly makes it known to everyone that it's his money thats been handed over. Its gonna be a rough ride.
He's not just handed over a "measly" 500k to the local hospital for a new ward, he's pumped a considerable amount of his own cash, and his families future into something that putting it mildly is a massive risk, whilst at the same time helping the club and city out massively. It can't be easy having to deal with those insular, unhelpful ****wits at the council who only care about themselves or the stupid minority sport they support. It won't be a rough ride, it'll be an exciting one.
SportsDirect News this evening. "Official first team squad numbers for Hull City Tigers have been released by the KC Stadium club ahead of the 2013/2014 Premier League season". Just e-mailed the Editor with a correction.
This is probably his PA responding to the criticism. If it was him, he should say it in public. I don't believe his bullshit.
Amber Nectar just posted this: Ex-Tigers opinions http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2013/08/ex-tigers-oppose-renaming-folly/
I think Allam was banking on fans general apathy and lack of willingness to stand up for anything when he initiated this name-change. I will cringe when people start referring to us as Hull Tigers but am accepting now that people don't bother standing up against anything these days so will just have to deal with it. It's not going to be reversed. It's been nice to hear various commentators refer to us as Hull City when watching games anyway, the rest of this situation is pretty sad and even reflects badly on a lot of our fans who it seems will put up with anything even if it is completely wrong.
