http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/pablo-osvaldo-tortured-soul-trying-2191237 Really quite an interesting insight into the guy. DTLW
....and that article is also precisely why I've been banging on about making the Gimme Shelter chant happen. Let's make him feel special......this really is one instance where the fans *can* make a difference.
I can actually identify with that a bit. The difference is, I don't throw my toys out of the pram when I'm not appreciated. But I too, perform better when I am. Must be the Latin side in me.
I'm so excited to see him and Lambert with gaston supporting. I just hope the boo boys don't decide to get on his back if he misses a chance or doesn't score in his first few games.
Sounds like he needs a bit of love and adulation from the fans and club. Easy. Us Saints are kind souls.
Yes, as in the other thread it's spectacularly simple - Osvaldo, He's going to score today, It's just a shot away. Repeat!
I doubt it will catch, sadly. I've sent a message to the Saints media team though, lets see what happens.
Why though? I honestly don't get why there's this outright negativity about a phenomenally simple chant that will go a long way to welcoming our record signing, and giving him a ****ing great beaming smile. You could tell in the press conference there's still a hell of a lot of bitterness about the way he was treated at Roma, and this would be psychologically such a smart thing for the fans to do right now. Why, why, why is it so difficult?
Because the Northam is the main chanting area and it's got many kids who won't know or like it and will favour "he scores when he wants". Our fans aren't the brightest buttons on the whole when it comes to chanting.
Of course I get that, but as was said in the other thread it only takes a few of the louder types to get it going and as long as there's enough recognition it'll grow some legs. How did the Shipperley one get going? Sorry, I feel like I'm on some kind of crazed mission here, but it just seems like a smart idea. Unfortunately I can't get to the game on Sat as one of my lot has a big gig, or I'd go out on the bloody centre circle bellowing it, Mike Osman style (mind you, that was a period of half times I'd rather forget!)
The other thing is, if the more intellectual fans such as DLTW/Mikey/Dan etc go in with the attitude "oh it will never happen"....well, guess what...... Come on guys. Positivity.
So he will play better in a quiet location with nice fans and he will feel wanted....that's sorted then. Everyone is happy at Southampton...even Puncheon who wasn't is back in the fold.
Certainly applies to the blokes who sit behind me. If Guly doesn't play I dread to think who they will turn on next.
If he isn't an instant scorer, I wouldn't mind betting that Osvaldo gets some treatment from your famous back line. Keep us informed, St.G.
It wasn't so long ago that we regularly won awards for our singing - most in-tune fans, best chants and the like! I think it was when we were last in the top flight that we won that, a few years before we went down. I think Derby County were second... PS why is my rep suddenly in the red?! I've done nothing!
Okay, I've made a play for it on SaintsWeb - I await ridicule: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthre...-for-the-next-few-games&p=1764497#post1764497
