http://www.superdeporte.es/valencia/2013/08/19/arsenal-viene-guaita/204347.html Arsenal representatives are travelling to Spain tomorrow for Vicente Guaita. Brilliant keeper. Seems bids and news are coming thick and fast now.
The bid for Cabaye is a joke, it just shows how clueless Wenger is. I wonder if people still think we should wait until September 2nd to judge him? The guy is a clown and if he has any dignity or respect for Arsenal left, he should walk and give our transfer funds to a man who knows how to use it.
I still think we should leave it until the transfer window is closed. Why would Wenger having a bid rejected change that?
Olivier Giroud says Arsenal need new arrivals as players begin to show their frustration at lack of signings Arsenal striker Giroud broke cover to voice his concerns. Giroud said: "In my opinion, it's necessary for the club to recruit another striker. Obviously, I think about it a little bit. It may change the play one day, especially if it's a high profile signing. "It's useless lamenting this though. I know what I have to do and what I'm capable of. I'm focusing on me and my work. The coach is counting on me, so I don't think too much." Even new boy Giroud is speaking up and wants a striker to come in. On a side note, was Pardew corrrect to be pissed that on the eve of there game against Man City, Arsenal placed a bid for one of their main players? This is probably the first classless move we've pulled this window and clearly shows the desperation creeping in. Why we couldn't wait for their game to happen is beyond me.
We've handled ourselves soo badly and look so un-organised I think it has ruined our chances of landing TOP Premierleague players like (Suarez/Rooney etc). We are better off looking to Germany/Spain now.
I think you're right. From Top signings, we've now slided down to Cabaye level. Yes he's a good player but he isn't better than any of our first team players. Also he is a player that plays in a position we don't need!
Alan Pardew slams Arsenal over Yohan Cabaye bid as Arsene Wenger eyes Micah Richards move http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...nsfer-news-yohan-cabaye-2188857#ixzz2cSApkW4Y The bid for Cabaye brought a hilarious snub from Mike Ashley who made a joke of Arsenal's bungled transfer policy. Arsenal's transfer fixer Dick Law, who has yet to land any of their big targets, rang Ashley offering £10.2m and the Newcastle owner quipped: "Which bit of him do you want to buy?" The joke went over Law's head as he replied: "No, we want to buy all of him. The player wants to play for Arsenal." Ashley claimed they would only start talking at £20m and hit back: "He may want to play for Arsenal but he's got three years left on his contract here." On a side note, will Richards be a good buy? We already have two right-backs, one will have to give way and I can't see Wenger dropping Jenks.
Like I said, we are a complete laughing stock. We sell our best players, keep deadwood (up until recently) and sign mediocre players. I and others alike have been saying this for years but the blind optimists stick their fingers in their ears shouting "la la la." I'll laugh when we don't qualify for the CL league and become mid table competitors. Maybe then all these clowns who continue to waste their money on this "business" Will see what fools we have been taken for.
It's what I was saying would happen 3 weeks ago. And even then it was enough to conclude it's an incompetently managed transfer window. If you get a few solid signings in other positions, and show you can get your business done to become a challenger, you'll have it easier to attract world class players. What kind of ambitious player would want to play for Arsenal at this point? He'll have to take a look at our 19-20 man squad (not even considering the injuries) and say "will I be able to make this team a title challenger?" Ambitious players are what we need, otherwise we'll always be toothless in tough situations in games where not everything is going our way.
When Fabianski came in last season, he was really good, so it looks like he's matured a bit. Worth another chance rather than letting a potentially decent keeper rot in the reserves. Of course I would love us to buy Begovic, but what are the chances of Wenger spending 15 million on a good keeper?
Agreed. Wengers best bet now is to go for younger players with TOP potential and perhaps a couple of veterans for experience because I dont think we can land any top names at this point. GK - Júlio César or Vicente Guaita. CB - Hoewedes (or M.Richards ,if not Ashley Williams would be an OK addition.) DM - Lars Bender, Paul Pogba or Kondogbia. AM/WF - Draxler ST- Eto'o could be an option - I've always been a big fan.. Would obvioulsy LOVE a top class/big name addition but we may have to settle for a young prospect. (Still worth trying a crazy bide for Lewandowski though!)
With regard to Sp*rs, they are buying a lot of quality players, but there are a million factors which will determine whether they do well. I think there comes a point where a team can "overbuy" as it were. These players need time to adapt and to gel, and time to work together as a unit. Some work better with certain players than others. Taking a bunch of brilliant players and putting them together does not equal success. Having said that, they have certainly improved their chances of doing well while we have done nothing and probably gone backwards. If we had strengthened the areas that we needed to, earlier in the window we would have capitalised on our brilliant end of season form. As it is, we are back to fighting to 4th-5th place. We'll be lucky if we get that far. We need to bounce back in these next two weeks.
