QUOTE Paul Konchesky: Leicester City full-back set to leave club

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that left-back Paul Konchesky is on the verge of leaving the King Power Stadium.

The 32-year-old was left out of the squad for Saturday's win at Derby.

In recent weeks, the former England international has been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers.

"I thought it was in the best interests of the player and ourselves that he was omitted from the squad," Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester.

"There has been speculation about potential moves away, but I can say he is still our player and I will speak to Paul again on Monday."

Konchesky, who joined City from Liverpool in 2011, started the opening two Championship games for the Foxes before being left out of the East Midlands derby at Pride Park. UNQUOTE

Can't get that excited if he's Rangers bound. He was a reasonable defender in his prime but at 32...

I agree he may be good for season but can't we get some younger options.

Solid and passionate and will help Suk Young develop safe as houses straight into our team ... You have to admire what Harold is doing by making us boss the other teams ... get that right because we have already seeen that teams will come to LR and park the bus. We will take no prisoners and no **** and this will count when it matters. We just have to take our chances and then the points at home are ours mega important ... on the road we have to be disciplined , absorb and grow into every game. I have to hand it to Harold he is surprising us all and Stephen is motivating the players ... we have to be as evil as we can and this bloke will mesh straight in

Im not getting worked up yet.

Ive seen we are now going from past it PL players to past it FLC players. Next up a 40 year old 18 stone Lee Trundle signed from Wealdstone.

Good solid player, consistent and still fit at 32.
Can get caught too far forward and isn't afraid to give away a silly foul to make up for it.
Keep him out of your penalty box and you'll be fine <ok>

Why are you letting him go apart from reasons you mention?

I'd guess hes on wages we can't cope with with FFP coming in, its believed hes on about 25k a week here (came in when Sven was here blowing money left and right).
He will do well i think if he does move to you, he wont prob be on those kind of wages because of his age.

Apart from getting caught and dishing out the odd rash tackle, you'll have yourself a good player, if this is the guy you get, you'll get yourself a bargain.

Pearson usually gives no information away at all over transfer ins and outs, so for him to give this sort of info away means (imo) that hes defiantly leaving.

Konch's wage are around 30K a week. We cant afford them due to FFP

Plus his lack of pace means he doesnt fit in with our preferred formation of 532

Here are some Leicester fans player rating for him in their first two games against Middlesborough + Leeds:

A mixed bag. Sounds like he was good in the first game- "getting back to his best", but less so in the second- "Same as always; suspect defensively."

Although it sounds like he might've been asked to play a different role in the second game, wingback rather than straight left back?
