A lot of posts have been made about Meyler today, most slating him and a fair portion writing him already as not good enough.

Here's the reality - it's the first game of the season and it was Chelsea away. If he's **** against the bottom sides then fair enough but don't write someone off based on today.

People are forgetting he's only one of two players we have (the other being Quinn) that can run and hassle the oppo for the full 90 minutes. He's got the heart of giant and a ****ing huge engine. Give him time, he will become invaluable this season.

Anyway - that's my two pence worth.

He WAS awful today, and looked clumsy.

I can still seem him playing a role later in the season, but I would never start him and Koren in the same midfield line-up again.

Meyler over Quinn for me every day of the week! We need legs in midfield and Meyler brings that! Him and Livermore on each side of Huddlestone will be class!

Myler and Boyd are citys weakest players in my opinion and graham looks lazy. The rest of them really impressed once they settled down.

It's all about balance to be honest. Meyler could be a lot more solid surrounded by thudd and livermore. Some players interact better with each other. You need the right balance.

How many actually went today and thought he was horrible? for some reason it wasn't apparent at the bridge. A couple poor touches/passes but otherwise didn't seem awful.

I'd also play meyler over Quinn any day. Meyler will play a big role for us this season. He got out classed by the title favourites today, I don't think many players in the league will escape being shown up by Chelsea this season. He's a good player and in my opinion is well worth this level, he looked far too good for the championship last season.

To be fair, he didn't get much support in there from Koren did he?

Surrounded by Hudds & Livermore / Quinn, he'll do a good job in front of the back four

You could see how frustrated he was when he went off....i would be to, Chelsea ran circles around the whole team especially midfield (first half anyway). I thought we were too open though, you need to keep Chelsea out on the wings and make the cross it so their midfield has to get in the box to try to score and thus leave more space for the counter attack.

Thud, Livermore & Meyler/Quinn for me in Midfield...Koren in behind the Striker(s) (like Geo) is where he should stay when he plays.

He picked up a yellow card and there was a small period where I was thinking "****, he's going to get sent off here". I thought he was effective, if not a little slow. Definitely the one to start alongside Thudd and Livermore.
