Great another set of fans that hate Saints for some pointless reason or other. What have you got against Le Tiss? Did you mistake him for Jimmy Hill or something? I guess you lot could hate us because Shearer was part of our academy, or is it that we have 'stolen your red n white stripes' or something equally as pathetic. Not a WUM, just curious, baffled me why Bournemouth, a team we hadn't played in the league since the 50's until a couple of seasons ago, decided we were their biggest rivals :S. Where on earth is all this hatred coming from? Did I slip into a coma while Southampton FC officially endorsed something horrible? Seriously what the hell did we do?
And in contrast to Wilts saint, I am well aware of how big a history Sunderland have, I'm not claiming that Saints are the bigger club in any way.
its a reply to another saints fan , I really dont care who the "bigger " club is , . I simply replied to comments from sunderland fans i disagreed with and gave sources to back up ! ....this thread was a sunderland/saints argument well before me , and yes it is embaressing and as i said the bit you commented on was a reply to another saints fan who dissected what i put to calm it all down so fact is ...i would have been off this board a while ago if i had my way , i didnt start this and far worse things were said so i find it embaressing that ppl keep adding to it ..
oh god the "whos the bigger club " is ignited again ...pointless comment ....a sunderland fan stated they were bigger and better ...i disagreed ...shame on me ... have your say but dont need to mention me,
I don't care to be honest, I just wanna know why the Sunderland fans have an issue with Le Tiss really, then I will shut up. I wasn't aware anyone but the 'other team' hated Le Tiss, I wanna know why.
the hatred we have for mackemenemy knows no bounds please log in to view this image Lawrie McMenemy (Sunderland) Tom Cowie will go down as one of the worst chairmen any club have been inflicted with. After Sunderland's promotion in 1980, Ken Knighton and then Alan Durban had been sacked despite the sporadic promise shown by their teams. Like Charles Amer over at Middlesbrough (who sold Craig Johnston and co and bled the club dry), Cowie suffocated Sunderland and became highly unpopular with supporters. The crowning turd of all, following relegation in 1985 (in which they had lost the League Cup Final) was the appointment of Lawrie McMenemy as manager. Now McMenemy had been a highly successful manager at Southampton, with an FA Cup win as a Second Division side, and then finishing runners-up to Liverpool in 1984. But he relied too often on ageing players to get the job done for him, and there was always the belief that he was an overrated manager. So what happened then? Cowie appointed McMenemy as manager and made him the highest paid manager in English football at the time. McMenemy then proceeds to buy a host of has-beens with the assumption they would get Sunderland out of the old Second Division. Despite high hopes, it would be an utterly devastating false dawn that wrecked the club, and he was sacked by Bob Murray as they were descending towards relegation to the old Third Division for the first and only time ever. And McMenemy's reward for his hatchet job? Assistant manager to Graham Taylor for England! Oh deary deary me...
Thats the bit I knew about, but that can hardly be all down to Saints now can it, Lawrie is a human being he isn't a robot controlled by some deranged saints fan with some misplaced hatred for Sunderland. Like I said it was the Le Tiss bit I knew nothing about.
Calm down lads Sunderland supporters - i am happy to give you the bigger club award -thats fine - that tends to be based on history so good luck watching all the highlights on your dvds. For me its more important about the current and the future and i would much rather be in our position than yours. We are a stable club with a fantastice academy. We may be a 'rich' club and have been for 4 seasons now since administration, but we paid off all our debts and we havent brought success over the past 3 seasons for spending big silly money on top players -we have spent within our means and promoted young players. Some of your childish comments wont spoil our enjoyment of signing a 'big' player. We are moving forward and exciting times for the saints. Our feet are firmly on the ground - 4 academy players and 6 englishmen in our team yesterday. PDC you seem as mad as your teams manager which is fine if you like the attention. Ask many team supporters what they think of Di Canio and their answer would probably fit what most people think of you. Good night
May as well add I what I think of our two teams in comparison: In terms of team quality right now I would take Southampton's team. But that's before we sign our desperately needed creative cm. Once we do, even though Southampton have Osvaldo, I'd say we have a fairly evenly matched teams. They clearly have much more financial muscle when it comes to transfers, but there source of finance isn't as sustainable as what we as a club can be, as we have a bigger stadium and more fans etc. I reckon they'll finish above us this season as the new players gel and Di Canio continues to build HIS team. Good luck for the season Southampton fans
Some of the posters on here seemed to take things a little personal, I'm not bothered I have no problems with Sunderland, or any north-eastern team for that matter. But someone on here said Le Tiss wasn't popular on this board, and I'm kinda curious as to why that might be, I promise to shut up once I know the answer, even if I don't like it.
I've no problem with Southampton and as far as I can gather the large majority of Sunderland fans don't either. Some people just don't like other clubs, for example I'm sure there's some Southampton fans who dislike Sunderland for some reason or other. Doesn't really matter
