I have to be honest - I can't contain myself with the excitement. Tomorrow it all starts again. It's about time - I can't wait any longer. I'm doing my wifes head in.
Jokes aside I am waiting for it too. I got £5 left for the month. That means 1 beer for 2 halfs which is going to be pretty damn hard.
Why? The excitement getting into the Prem has waned slightly for me, maybe the first game and who it is, warrants a bit more of the exuberance
It hasn't waned for me one bit ! I look forward to this season with more optimism than ever before. We already had a good side but with the additions we have made pre season makes me think we can really achieve great things this season. Couple that with a good run in Europe - and I really see no reason why we can't win the Europa League, and there's a lot to be excited about.
we will either be top of the league somewhere or bottom of the league... wherever i will enjoy tomorrow,,,,,rooney plays i think...I hope bony plays for us if he is back...

Aswan...in the last few years we've seen Middlesbrough, Fulham and Rangers all make the Europa final. Is there any evidence that they had better squads than us ? In the PL we've beaten Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. Who would we come up against in the Europa league that is stronger than any of them ? I still see no reason to fear any team in that competition.
I'm not sure of the format when Boro and Fulham did well. I fully expect to get to the league stage by beating the Romanian team but I'm not sure we'll get much beyond that due to 2 things. First, the quality of teams that keep dropping into the competition out of the Champions League as well as seeded teams that haven't even started in the Europa League yet. Secondly, the volume of games must eventually take its toll even with the two team squads we seem to have developed. Yes, we have beaten Chelsea over 2 legs to reach last seasons League Cup Final but to fight consistently in the Prem and Europa League over a prolongued campaign will be too much I fear. Let's hope you're right, though, and I'm proved wrong
To be honest, I also think this schedule will take its toll and we might end up as a Jack of all Trades and Master of None. For this reason I have always advocated a squad of 25. Many other teams have a squad of 22 or more and they don't have the extra fixtures in Europe, ergo they will be fresher than us. Early on, Europe could be to our advantage when we will be "battle" hardened sooner than the other teams. But, as the season progresses and injuries/suspensions/tiredness kick in, the opposition will have fresher legs and we will lose points that otherwise we wouldn't have. It has happened to other teams and I see no reason to believe it won't happen to us. Two or three extra players could make the difference. Without the fixture load, I would be extremely positive. We have the best squad we've ever had and I could see us mounting a serious challenge to finish in the top eight with an outside chance of higher. Whatever, it promises to be an exciting season and I'm determined to enjoy every minute of it.
