Now I do have to respect that I have no idea what the budget was for this Season but I can hazard a guess that all of it is nearly gone if not completely spent. However, and this may sound idiotic in todays football world but surely it wouldn't cost a lot to bring in say 3 free agents or loanees? With the season having begun some of those players who were holding out for better offers in the summer may desperately be looking for any kind of deal or face a year on the footballing scrap heap. Also I would imagine that there are some players out there in a similar position to Rowan Vine a couple years ago who are frozen out completely at their club and need to go somewhere where they will play regular football to put themselves in the shop window. I'm not suggesting that Martin simply go out and sign poor players simply because they are free or cheap but maybe get a player(s) on a month by month contract to let us have the ability to lessen the risk of signing a dud player. The free agents list still makes for interesting reading and hopefully if we need extra options Martin can get them.
I think that will probably happen the week after September 2nd when the transfer window closes, and the loan window opens. I expect some players/agents are hanging in there at the moment ,hoping for a good offer from someone.
I agree with Vinney. Hopefully Allen can get a couple of results in August before strengthening the squad in September.
