I'll bet he is... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8871384/? Goalkeeper Julio Cesar says he would be happy to stay at QPR should a move fail to materialise before the transfer deadline. The Brazil international only moved to Loftus Road from Inter Milan last summer but the club's relegation to the Championship has forced him to consider his options. He is keen to keep playing at the highest level in order to secure his international place for next year's World Cup. The London club are also keen to lower their wage bill meaning Cesar, as one of their higher earners, looks likely to be offloaded. The 33-year-old has been linked with a move back to Serie A while Arsenal have also been mentioned as a possible destination, though no move has yet to come to fruition. With the transfer deadline rapidly approaching the former Flamengo star admits he is in talks over a transfer but would be happy to stay at QPR should those discussions break down. "There are two weeks left before the window closes and nothing is certain yet," he told ESPN Brazil. "I am talking with some clubs but unfortunately we are not able to reach a common denominator. "But I will decide my future and if I have to stay at QPR to play in the Championship, it won't be a problem."
What do we think the 'common denominator' could be????? Answers on the back of a hefty wage slip and posted to TF I wouldn't mind him staying, for me he's a better keeper than Green and it would be slightly surreal watching the World Cup with the host countries keeper being a Championship QPR player......
Keep at all costs IMO I think he is fantastic for QPR and will attract more players if we go up ... because lads under Harold If we do have success then Harold will spend big time next season ... no doubt at all. I would loan him if need be but keep him because there is a chance that he will win the world cup .. he is young and if that happens he will be worth a small fortune. The world cup will bring up all sorts of drama I can see him being a world hero and with QPR stated everywhere as his club ... the brand of QPR will be massive and worth more than 100K a week
I think we should keep him. He is in the top ten goalkeepers in the world. I know you 'experts' will point out errors but please explain by one of the world's top managers picks him for a team who is one of the best in the world. Out here all the matches in the Con Fed cup were shown and I for one was proud to see Cesar QPR come up on the tele
Only wants to stay because no-one else will pay his ridiculously high weekly wages. If he wants a loan then great but wages are a real stumbling block. Fulham could afford him though! Not sure if he is that much better than Green as a keeper, we saw some poor positioning last season and some soft goals being let in. On the other hand we saw some fantastic saves. The same comments could equally apply to Green.
The fact that the Brazil manager said that he just needs to play, irrespective of the level, will have made a big difference to his thinking.
I want to keep Green. We're finding a bit of stability now and we're making progress. To change keepers again, to a lefty, and the probability of having to change back midwinter again doesn't sound appealing to me.
Would be absolutely disasterous for team spirit to replace Green with Cesar at this point - that was one of the issues which sparked off last year's disunity, and I for one don't want a repeat of that. As for Cesar bringing fame to QPR, who cares? What sort of fame are we expecting? Seems doubtful to me that he'll have much good to say, apart from we offer great potential for a huge payout. Anyway, don't seem to recall the commentators during the CFC mentioning much about us.
The world cup is next summer remember? So what you meant to say was the goalkeeper of a side that's just been promoted to the premier league...... ;-)
No he's not, he's in the top ten goalkeepers with famous names in the world. An aging average goalie, with a sickening wage. I really don't know why teams like Arsenal were even considering buying him- he's 34 in two weeks, and isn't anything special. An awful purchase for any top 4 aspiring side, they'd be far better served getting an equally good 25 year old keeper. Cesar is representative of a whole "layer" of mercenaries we bolted on to our squad last season, and it'll be people like him that will eventually lead to the demise of this club. edit: cech, hart, de gea, lloris, Szczesny, howard,Mignolet, krul, ruddy, vorm There's 10 off the bat that are better than him, and that's from the PL alone
I thought he could have done better away to Villa on 45 minutes. Whilst Jose Bosingwa was guilty of losing the ball - Cesar should have come out to take the cross in his 6 yard box. I could have forgiven a rookie 'keeper, but I expected more of Cesar. I think this was a pivotal point in our season. Go in 1-0 up at half time having bossed the game and on the back of an away win at Southampton and we've got a fighting chance.... The mathematics suggested otherwise; but psychologically we were relegated on that afternoon.
My mate saw him out recently and he actually stopped for a chat with him. Said he's happy at QPR and wants to help push for promotion this season, but his agent apparently doesn't want him playing in the championship. Make of that what you will. Read some rubbish in here about him not being "that much" better than Green. Words fail me. Rob's a good keeper but they're in completely different leagues.
Agree with you Grifter. If he was one of the 10 best in the world, he wouldn't be at QPR in the first place. The fact he gets picked for his country is neither here nor there even if his country is the most decorated in world football. That doesn't make him great. He had good and bad spells last season. He is not worth the money we are paying him. As others have said, he doesn't want to be here. Get rid ASAP.
Well I'd be quite content if someone was to pay me £65k per week for doing a bit if fitness work and not actually being held accountable for anything....what a good life. I think that a lot of his brilliance in some of the matches went out of the window with that error of judgement at Villa for their first goal....we should remember that without him we would not have got a sniff of survival, we would have been relgated by March.....
