YEP reporting Diouf has been put up for sale. A bit surprised a this as we certainly have a lot worse at the club. I suppose mcd has realised hes one of the few anyone is likely to be interested in. At 32, cant see us getting any money but would save 10k off wage bill. Personally, I found him to be one of the shining lights in a dire season last year
No pace, can't head, can't tackle, doesn't score enough. He's good for holding play up and falling over for free kicks, but Becchio could do that and score a hatful of goals with it. Diof stood out last year simply because of how bad everyone else was. Whether it's cash or money for wages, if we can get a buyer, I say let him go.
Diouf sacrificed because he is probably the only one out of the dross that someone will bid for. Normally when this is made public it means someone has made an enquiry, and hopefully this will hurry them up while also making other clubs aware he is now available ... after a rethink. Interesting that Leeds have waited until mid August to do this, expect he will probably go on loan or a free.
Diouf might not be able to tackle or head that well, but he can pick a pass better than almost anyone in the side. He would have really benefitted from us now playing proper footy rather than hoofball. As it's not on the website, are we sure of the provenance of this story?
Only problem with a loan, I cant see anyone stumping up a lot of his 10k wage. Should we notify the wallies that have disappeared into thin air, they're daft enough seemingly
If he went to the 'Wall, he'd either be club captain within hours of arriving or abused to the point that he'd pay his return fare to Leeds. That said, he would be a star for anyone he played for.
Can understand it, but surely he would have been better used in place of Ross and move Ross up top. You get some craft, and skill and a few goals from him, but you get Ross doing what he 's meant to do and score goals because we don't have that right now.
Too much of a clever footballer for us to let go just like that. He kept us going at the start of last season when the rest of the team was ****e
I'd guess as well as being on decent wages his gametime is a concern. If selling/loaning him means we can bring in a winger and/or another central defender who is better than what we have and can last 90 minutes, we'll be much better for it.
Were not likely to get a transfer fee so whoever replaces him will also have to be free and on 10k max. Hardly likely we'll sign someone better than Diouf in that scenario so seems pointless letting him go. Anyway, according to our chairmans speech last week, he said gfh had sanctioned two more signings with no mention of having to sell first. Maybe mcd sees something in Diouf he doesnt like
We need two wingers. We don't have any at the minute (hall must be crap). No point playing with just one. We cannot afford two wingers and who would we drop to accommodate them anyway. We are stuck with a diamond formation like it or not until some serious cash comes in.
Norris and Drury are on their way too. Mills and Tomlin are on their way in though. EHD on his way to Norwich?
Wishful thinking all round Glory, or have you read something somewhere on incomers and those leaving?
Drury and Pearce have no future at er and will not play again. Millwall is an obvious destination. When agent lomas loses again this weekend and is replaced by Colin ****er the deals will be done.
We only have two centre backs so I don't think we have much choice! I'd be sad to see Diouf go but let's face it, he's not exactly a regular starter, would be easy to find a buyer for, is on decent wages and is over 30 to boot. He's a good player but easy to sacrifice IMO, and if his wages go towards bringing in a genuine winger with pace I'd lose him happily and wish him luck elsewhere.
