Moberg Karlsson hoping to impress Published: 14 August, 2013 by Ashley Houghton Young midfielder looking to make step up. Sunderland midfielder David Moberg Karlsson is hoping a good run of form for Sunderland can earn him recognition at under-21 - and hopefully later senior level - for his native Sweden. Moberg Karlsson has been capped 11 times at under-19 level for Sweden and he hopes the recognition he will receive from playing in the Barclays Premier League will bolster his chances, although he maintains his primary aim is to impress for Sunderland. âIâm at the age to play for the under-21's but I havenât been selected, so of course that is the first step for me,â Moberg Karlsson said. âI donât think too much about the national team - I want to play well for Sunderland and if you play well at a big club like Sunderland then you will get the opportunity to play [at international level]. âThatâs just extra motivation â I want to play well for Sunderland first.â Moberg Karlsson also told safc.com he has drawn help from fellow Swede Seb Larsson during his first couple of months on Wearside. Heâll come up against another Swede on Saturday in Fulhamâs Alexander Kacaniklic and, though he doesnât know the Cottagers winger personally, he says itâs exciting for his country to see so many players plying their trade in the Barclays Premier League. âHe [Seb Larsson]âs a Swede so we can talk about things; we have the same culture and he has helped me a lot with some practical things as well,â the 19-year-old explained. âI donât know Kacaniklic personally, like I didnât know Seb at first but for me itâs the best league in the world and for our national team itâs good for many of our players to be playing in the league.â http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2013/august/moberg-karlsson-looking-to-impress Would appear he has his head screwed on! Think he could make an impact in our team this year as a sub, possibly in cup games Would be surprised if different, either way hopefully Ba has similar thoughts
Every time you hear the lad being interviewed, you get the impression that he's keen to learn and hasn't let anything go to his head. Will probably be used as a late sub, but I think he'll improve rapidly. Already looks quick and aware and has an eye for goal
