This is how I envision Lotus and RB negotiating with him:
lol i re-watched the 1994 season so many times as it was easily one of the best season in motor sport ever, rather sad compared to how it is now (BTCC at least), i'll never forget that clip of them showing the 850 estate for the first time and the other drivers reactions of pure horror. The S40 Rydell eventually won in was definitely a more attractive and um...serious attempt at competing.
The S40 looked more like a racing car, but the 850 had presence! I still have the 94 review on video and I know the clip you mean when the wheeled the 850 through. Tim Harvey's face was a picture, wonder if he would have reacted the same had he known he was going to drive from them (with the saloon) in 95!? The 92 season was also a classic. The Silverstone finale demolition derby is still one of the most exciting BTCC races ever.
yep same, i don't think my video even works now though, most of them just got damp and moldy, even whilst kept in the freaking case.
The 850 was incredible. We'd go look at them in the paddock inbetween races and marvel at the amount of duct tape holding them together after demolition derby of the first race. Beasts!!!
If Alonso ends up with that drive instead of Kimster there'll be tears at bed time from one or both Red Bulls. Would actually like to see that!
Possibly relevant here: Domenicali has accepted Alonso's criticism of the car and has ordered an internal horse-head gift spree / investigation into their poor race pace in Hungary (delete as appropriate). Ferrari have a programme for Spa which they will be preparing over the summer break. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109145 Rumour has it that the tyre switch has affected them more than some other teams and their planned updates in Germany and Britain didn't work, meaning that the car that raced last Sunday was basically the same as the car which was driven in Spain. Once again, the wind tunnel / actual pace correlation seems askew.
Leo Turrini claims that Raikkonen is interested in Ferrari and tried to sign with them last year but the move was vetoed by Luca. He doesn't know whether Luca's opinion has changed now, but Domenicali and Alonso would like Raikkonen to return. At the same time, Bild say that Ferrari have made Raikkonen an offer, and it's more lucrative than the offer made by Red Bull (which is a 15m retainer).
If I was giving them the benefit of the doubt I'd assume that refers to Bianchi's role as lead tester rather than as a potential race driver but I have to admit I think Bianchi will be racing higher up the grid next season... whether he jumps straight into the Ferrari or not, I'm not sure. (Remember Massa had a year just as a Ferrari tester before he joined them as a racer) In other news: Valencia is in negotiations to end its contract in Formula 1 http://www.worldcarfans.com/113081261332/valencia-in-talks-to-break-f1-contract---report Williams are set to sign a new Bottas: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109245
So the Sauber-Russia deal is still not done? Is this all hinging on the Russian GP being on the calendar next year? ....Which is could be possibly hinging on The Winter Olympics not being boycotted over Gay laws.
Rumours getting stronger that Raikkonen is heading back to Ferrari next year. http://www.inautonews.com/raikkonen-opts-for-ferrari-return-in-2014-report#.UgtBTNJTCtw
Kimi going to Ferrari However, it would be much more interesting if he went to Red Bull to see how good Seb is, don't rate Ricciardo as highly
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109261 That said, I think you have hit upon it being conditional on Russia's presence on the calendar... I do hope that there are no problems with that, Sauber deserve to stay.
I hope Sauber don't get into trouble, they always seem like a model mid to lower field team. Bringing in good rookies (ignore this year) and surprising the big boys with clever strategies from time to time.
