No, that was the 4444th post. I wrote that as I was waiting for it like a saddo. BTW Patty, bit off topic, but I noticed you forgot to predict some scores on the prediction thread. Just letting you know.
ah cheers mate, I never noticed tell a lie..... I noticed it yesterday and fixed it, but thanks anyhow
No. They would have gone down anyway even if they had won as Birmingham City won that day. Birmingham had another game and ended up 5 points in front of Man Utd. Fun to be had with the Man Utd plastics in Hull that season with their top scorer at Christmas being goalkeeperAlex Stepney with 2 goals. And of course our complete outplaying of them at Boothferry Park.
It's one of those footballing myths where people forgot about the details to suit a more dramatic version of events. A bit like McCormack scoring the goal that sent us up, and PB's teamtalk relegating us.
I have to agree along those lines. It hurt Stoke last year & Wigan will struggle in the Championship. Of course if they go,out early then they could challenge top 8 don't think any higher.
Arsenal ... out of the clubs that always finish in and around the top, I admire the way that Arsenal do business above the others. Keep. Aston Villa ... what to say about them? keep. Cardiff City ... isn't this the English Premier League? Should be reassigned to the League of Wales a.s.a.p. but failing that quite enjoy the away trips to foreign lands. Keep. Chelsea ... I have a lot of friends who support them and a lingering affection from liking them in the 60s and early 70s. Keep. Crystal Palace ... located in a nastiest part in a dump of a city and the fans to go with it. Relegate. Everton ... mostly harmless. keep. Fulham ... least pretentious of the London clubs, best match day food in the PL. Keep. Hull City ... keep. Liverpool ... have an inflated self importance fueled by the press from when they were good. which they aren't anymore. I would say relegate but there are 3 teams that I would put ahead of them, so, sadly: keep. Manchester City ... see the entry for Man United. Almost enough to say relegate but there are three that I would rather see go down. Keep. Manchester United ... sorry, family connections to this club mean it has to be a keep. Newcastle United ... spent six and bit years at University there and its left an indelible mark on me. When it was too expensive to travel to Hull for every game spent some time on the Leazes End. Still the team whose results I will look for after ours. Keep. Norwich City ... nice place to visit (even if it is hard to find) and cracking pubs. Keep. Southampton ... in some ways, Hull-on-the-Solent. As "The South" is a very alien place we should twin with them. Keep. Stoke City ... unlike others I have like a grudging respect for them and how they have ruffled some feathers in the PL. Despite Stoke being a place that would benefit from large scale fracking, keep. Sunderland ... don't like the place. don't like the supporters. Relegate. Swansea City ... not quite as bad as Cardiff. Keep. Tottenham Hotspur ... assuming the Huddlestone (& Livermore) deals go through, thank you, keep. West Bromwich Albion ... if you forced me to pick a team that I would most like Hull City to emulate it would be these guys. I could put up with the occasional relegation knowing that a well run club can compete to go back up straight away. keep. West Ham United ... horrible, plastic mockneys pub by porn barons. Any club associated in any way with Karren Brady deserves bad things to happen to them. Relegate.
Swansea have bought well this summer for the europa league games but will they qualify for the group stage ? Wigan also and they will be involved in it for the group stages at least. Tottenham also have the same issue as Swansea as they have to first qualify for the group stage ? If Spurs do then our game @ white hart lane will be put back 24hrs to sunday 27th october.
It's not a relegation, but anybody but Celtic winning the SPL will surely feel like relegation to them. And that would make me smile. The most. I'd also like to see FC Halifax promoted to the Football League.
