    Excitement, anticipation and hope
With maybe a wee touch of fear,
Natural emotions, wondering if we´ll cope
As we build up to yet one more year

There´s nothing to beat a new season´s first game
Especially if it be at home,
Away is okay, but it´s not quite the same
As a packed, noisy, Delia Dome

New faces, new names, and a slate wiped clean
´Friendlies´ a thing of the past,
Adrenalin pumping through fans and the team
Waiting, as the new die is cast

Will this be a year where we reach a new high
    In the Premier Division´s roadshow,
The signings we made, will they flourish or die
All this and more, we shall soon know

But one thing united ´mongst fans everywhere
When they hear that old whistle blast,
From Toon down to Wales they´ll believe they´ll be here
Once all thirty-eight games have passed

And who can say now just how things will pan out
It´s why we all come back for more,
Even those touted ´safe´ could be in doubt
As to whether they´ll see an encore

For favourites there may be at both the league´s ends
But until we´re well under way,
Down the first straight and round a few bends
If they´ll come good, is quite hard to say

So a new mystery tour is about to begin
With no doubt, an occasional landmine,
Placed in our path, to take on the chin
Before we cross that finish line. OTBC - IHIT

Here´s to another year of improvement!

Excellent opener for the new season RBF. <ok>

Having witnessed the efforts of some of our new signings against Panathinaikos, I'm very optimistic of our chances of stil being in the PL come May. IMO, we need to be more creative in midfield and provide better opportunities for our strikers to score - rather than rely on a lot of our goals coming from midfielders or defenders.

Looking forward to this year JR, with optimism as always, can´t really see any reason not to. Naturally a couple of long term injuries to key players would knock us back, but then so it would to any team, so that would be my greatest fear, if we can keep´em all fighting fit, then we could have an enjoyable ride.

I am massively looking forward to this season, I feel if we get a good start then we can be a lot more comfortable than last year. I am happy with the signings but if we could get 1 - 2 more in before the window shuts then it really will have been excellent business by the club.

Unfortunately I am on holiday for 2 weeks as of Friday........ not happy about it and I am going to Egypt so I cant see that I am going to be able to catch any games! Also not sure my girlfriend will approve of me ditching her for hours at a time to go watch matches if I did find any shown anywhere.

The tingle of anticipation is definately growing. Getting really excited about our prospects this year. With our brand new strikeforce and some pace in the team I think we will get a lot more enjoyment this year than we did last. Hopefully we won't sit back and defend for our lives after scoring this term.... my nerves wont stand it!

Hi RBF bor, this effort surpasses your previous ones. Keep up entertaining us with your poetry. Like you say, all fans look to continue their membership of the PL, unfortunately its a fact that three will not realise their hopes. Incidentally using that word FACT . . . we must be doing ok, ColMike has hibernated !!! Rex keeping his Master under control LOL.

When you go without football you realise how much you love it. I'm always reminded of a section of bobby robsons famous "what is a club" quite when he said:

Once it's in you, you can never let it go

Very much so NORKIE ;), it´s certainly very much a case of ´The King and I´ when we go for our daily promenade.
