http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...spender-sunderland-s-30m-revolution-1-5943699 SUNDERLANDâS transfer spending has already reached almost £30m during the transfer window. The Black Cats have been the most active Premier League outfit this summer after adding eight players to the first-team frame, as Paolo Di Canio remoulds the squad he inherited from Martin OâNeill. But only two of those recruits have commanded significant transfer fees, with Jozy Altidore and Emanuele Giaccherini both costing in excess of £6m. Sunderland landed Modibo Diakite, Valentin Roberge and Cabral on Bosmans, Vito Mannone and David Moberg Karlsson were each signed for less than £2m, while the club had to pay nominal compensation to Le Havre for out-of-contract midfielder El-Hadji Ba. Yet the Gazette understands that the total outlay from Sunderlandâs recruitment drive is still approaching the £30m mark â from transfer fees, signing-on payments and agent costs. A large chunk of that total was financed by the £11m sale of Simon Mignolet to Liverpool, while Sunderland also received £2m for Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City. And they further boosted their bank balance last week with the departure of James McClean to Wigan. But it is thought that Sunderland received just £1m from the sale of McClean, who made his Latics debut in yesterdayâs Community Shield against Manchester United. The figures are further evidence of the financial support provided by Sunderland owner Ellis Short. Even though the clubâs income has been significantly boosted by the new television deal, Short has made funds available before Sunderland have finished offloading those surplus to requirements. Sunderlandâs spending is not finished either. The Black Cats are on the verge of sealing a deal for Czech right-back Ondrej Celustka, while a left-back, winger and a creative midfielder remain on Di Canioâs wish-list, plus a new striker should one of the clubâs existing frontmen leave the Stadium of Light. England international Tom Huddlestone is Sunderlandâs main target for the midfield role, but he wonât come cheap, with Tottenham placing a £5m asking price on the 26-year-old earlier this summer before the Black Cats broke off negotiations. Sunderland are NOT reliant on further sales before making further purchases though. That looked the case last week when Sunderland saw a season-long loan bid for Charis Mavrias rejected by Panathinaikos after McCleanâs departure. Sunderland still have several high wage earners who they are looking offload; the likes of Phil Bardsley, Lee Cattermole and David Vaughan. But it is understood that the month-long delay since Sunderland last entered the market has been due to the club re-assessing their transfer targets, rather than waiting to remove players from the wage bill. I had to admit I haven't taken signing on fees and agent fees into account but am i the only one who thinks 30m is bollocks? And if it is true how much have we really spent in the past?
Considering the sales of: Mig - £9m Elmo - £2m McClean - £2m Graham - Wages NDiaye - Wages Id say that we have spent closer to the £15m mark However when Bardo/Catts/Vaughan go, that should be another £6m+ Still have money from sky and any premier league money...should be plenty to spend really Whilst Giaccherini/Altidore/Cabral will be on decent wages, ba/karlsson/roberge etc will be on far less
Might get some next level signings next season if we make a decent profit. We don't have debt like them up the road. I'm expecting us to be well into the black.
I wouldn't sign him for £50 signing on fee and a £1 a wages a week. He's no ****ing use to me unless he can change a cathater, mop **** up out of a pad, make a brew when required or use a ceiling hoist. Tell you what though, in the real world the girls I employ to help are worth ten of him..
Carers/nurses/doctors etc (especially neo-natal nurses in our experience) are the salt of the earth, priceless
1 out of every 4 doctors and 1 out of every 3 nurses are the salt of the earth in my 4 year experience with Lollie. There's a lot of ****e in there PDC, communication of the flintstones scale and nero to zero practical stuff. It's all right swatting for 4-8 years but you have to be able to put that into practice. I spent Friday afternoon showing a physio how to attach a standard sling in the 'lie position' and how to tie a leg-bag urinal cathater prior to hoisting as the senseless bint, didnt have a clue..
Thats bad like, we've only really had experience with neo-natal and macmillan, cant speak highly enough of them
Too true mate. Sadly the crap/lazy/incompetent consultants give the other NHS workers (thousands of whom deserve much credit) a bad name. Too many bad experiences!
It's a bloke, Mr Chinnery the accident prone vet turned surgeon. From the League of Gentlemen. If you've never watched it mate I advise you do. Dark and funny. It's a classic Joe. I worked in a residential home for now renowned Castlebeck and the standard of care is appalling from bottom to top. There were no signs of abuse at my unit but the working practices were unacceptable and most of the Carers and nurses weren't worth a ****ing light. The whole sector needs massive reform from physical ailments to mental illness, the whole shabang. Tories cut funding of course.
McMillan nurses are superb. Looked after my old dear in her final weeks and couldn't speak more highly of them.
