Alan Pardew: USA tour is the ideal warm-up for Newcastle United
ALAN Pardew has revealed Newcastle United turned down the chance of money-spinning tours of China and Thailand to make sure they get a flying start to the season.
Newcastle head to the USA next month for games against Sporting Club Kansas, Orlando City and Columbus Crew – with Pardew earmarking the tour as a chance for long-term absentees Hatem Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling to make their returns.
The United chief is also hoping to bed in several new faces, with Yohan Cabaye potentially joined by Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro – whom Newcastle still have a good chance of signing.
Whatever the personnel, Pardew believes the “first class” facilities on offer in the States will give his side the perfect chance to hone their pre-season preparations.
Better, at least, than if they had jetted off to the Far East, where there were offers for them to play provincial sides in China.

“(America) was my idea,” Pardew said. “From the conversations I’ve had with other managers, I’ve come to the conclusion that touring the Far East isn’t ideal. We had a couple of offers to go out there, and they were lucrative deals. But they would have been beset with problems in terms of communication, facilities, travelling and food. While some of the distances are quite long in America, we know the training environment is going to be first class.
“The food and facilities will be absolutely top-drawer. It will be the best place for us. I wanted to take the players to somewhere that would give them a bit of a buzz, and I think America will do that.
“It should also be a great trip for our supporters as well. I’m sure we’ll have lots of people who will be looking at their holidays and thinking it will be nice to catch us in Orlando or Columbus.”

The tour will take on particular significance for Newcastle because Pardew hopes to have every one of his new players on board by the time they set off for the States for the first game on July 20.

With France midfielder Cabaye already committed to a move to St James’ Park, attention has switched to striker Gameiro – their priority target.
He will not make a formal decision on his future until after the internationals with France but United were cool about his publicly-stated desire to play Champions League football.
Newcastle are the only club to have had a bid accepted and they are adamant that they can persuade Gameiro – both with a lucrative offer and by giving him a glimpse of their plans.
Indeed there was a further indication that Newcastle are in the running late yesterday when Paris Saint Germain’s head of recruitment Alain Roche was quoted as saying Gameiro was “closer to England” than a move anywhere else. PSG have registered an interest.

Pardew believes America will be the perfect place to introduce new arrivals to the club.
“There was a lot of thought went into that, and hopefully it will be a successful tour. It will be important because hopefully that’s where I’ll be bedding the new players in,” he said.
“We don’t want to leave it too late with the signings. I’ve seen that (Roberto) Mancini has said he wants all his signings by July 1. Well, they’ve got the financial clout to do that. We haven’t, so we have to do the best job we can in terms of getting them in.
“I’ve been to the States and had a little look round a couple of NFL facilities in the past.
“I’ve never toured there, but I know where we’re going is where Man United went, and Sir Alex has given it a very strong recommendation.”

If we are to believe the local press then we may have a better chance of signing Gameiro then we have been led to believe.

If we believe everything we read in the press we could end up topping ourselves.

Best to just wait until it happens, it's out of our control so there's nothing we can do about it. Just think of all the stories in a matter of day's that have linked us with this one and that one etc etc and try to imagine MA putting his hand in his pocket for the amount it would take to bring it all to fruition.

The press still banging on about Gameiro, once they've got their teeth in it they're not going to let it go.

Pards denying the stories abour Ben Arfar having a set back with his injuries, so many stories you just don't know which ones to believe.

He shouldn't even have to come out and deny it, if anyone knew he was going to retire or had a massive set back it would have to come from the club.
Even our club wouldn't miss communicate on something like this. Well hopefully.

You'd hope he'd think it was so stupid that it didn't deserve denying or given any credibility.

Last I heard was that Gervinho is apparently coming here!
I think Tiote may have said he will break his legs on internation duty if he doesn't.

Truth is French press want him to come here , English press don't. Any good players the English press want to go to their beloved "Big 6". That's why every time we are linked to a top player , some paper or other pops up saying Livershit , Aresshite or whoever are SUDDENLY interested them!
