I'm afraid my expectations for the FLS are permanently low. I record it, fast forward to Watford then delete. Occasionally Mini Bloother will watch other matches, but we definately don't bother with the 'analysis'.
Exactly how I watched it Bloother - however I did expect to only have to fast forward a couple of matches at most
I'm afraid the club only has itself to blame - if we were owned by an english person rather than Italians and didn't deliberately flout the rules in order to disadvantage decent teams like Leeds and leicester then the BBC would give us the billing we deserve (thought I'd save our visiting friends the bother).....
And for all the bleating of Leeds and Leicester fans, their teams, between them, managed to produce one of the most yawn-inducing matches I have ever had the misfortune to witness!! Forget about "Do not scratch your eyes!" - I wanted to rip mine out
You have the front to come on this board and accuse us of arrogance posting schite like that! So if what you say is correct, why is your squad so average?? You were once a big club (early to late 70's) but you are now like the rest of us JUST a Championship side. You seem to forget that your club tried to bring back the glory days by spending big. It nearly cost you your existence so you should know better than most what overspending can do to a club. Fortunately Watford have owners that wont over commit in the transfer market or in the wages stakes and they will continue to invest in player development and cashing in when selling on! This I believe helps in the cash in/cash out rules of FFP (but since your such an expert on the topic, I am more than happy to be corrected). Just accept the facts, your club is an average Championship team trying to make the big time just like the other 24 teams (Watford included).
Another dumb ar$e comment coming from a fan of a club whose best players were either Scottish or Australian!!
Didn't say there was just the comment about 'us' importing Italians and Spaniards when they import Scots and Ozzies
They dont play football (as we know it) in Oz, its called Soccer :-( Aussie Rules, League and Union get the privallege of being called football. Australian soccer is the place to come for all the has beens looking for a few final fat pay checks (ask Fowler/Kewell/Del Pierro/Heskey). Not the best standard, but its all we have and its relatively cheap to go and watch compared to the mega bucks you pay in the UK for 90 mins of entertainment.
Agreed - the main problems being the size of the player pool & overseas scouts. As you indicate, 'soccer' comes a poor fourth in the popularity stakes (in my home town it's actually sixth behind hockey and touch football as well ) so player numbers are far smaller - and when a 'good un' crops up, he's off overseas like a shot. Where the Aussies beat the Brits hands down IMO is the infrastructure. The system is geared to identify talent at an early age and allow it to rise, through annual Talent Identification Series held on regional, state and national levels. The coaching, particularly in early years and at grass roots level, is far superior - am not blowing my own trumpet, but I held a Soccer Australia Junior Licence for over 10 years and what I've seen here from professional clubs in no way matches what is taught in Oz at grass roots level. Kids over there are far more technically able, but the lure of the 'Big Three' - or the beach - usually draws them away by the time they reach 13 or 14.
and who no doubt if they went up will look to get the best deals they can to bring in fresh players which will mean looking abroad. If English players were cheaper or managers had more time to develop players rather than "oh dear we've lost a game so the man needs to go" type attitude then I am sure those youngsters could come through at the top level. We've even seen Sunderland/Norwich and Southampton this summer bring in more players from overseas and they generally had a good core of British players.
So where you from BB. Somewhere in QLD I would imagine based on the reference to 'roar' a few weeks ago. Victoria, is farked as far as development is concerned, its a case of who you know and how much money you have. Quite a few people making a lot of money of parents hoping for their kids to hit the big time. Most of the players who show the slightest bit of talent are snapped up in Europe very quickly. The A League teams recycle schite players too rather than bring through younger talent, but again like stated before this is due mainly to owners wanting success. The only exception to this seems to be Ange
Another positive balanced article. http://www.footballfancast.com/cham...nd-wrongs-of-the-current-situation-at-watford
Its only one who seems to have a general beef about the game though - yet probably pays out the prices for tickets and merchandise or rings up the phone-ins demanding big transfers etc.
Wow, well up the coast. My old boss was from Rockhampton. Never been personally, but I do know you wouldn't be used to UK type weather been from that neck of the woods, lol
