Morning Peeps, Leeds first televised game of the 2013-14 season ended in a 0-0 stalemate, and even though Leicester hit the wodwork Leeds more then held their own, and away from home.... Surely we have to be happy at the way Leeds played. We are, apart from a couple of exceptions using the same team inherited by Warnock, but playing 200% better. What are we more proud of :- Keeping a clean sheet Drawing away at Leicester Undefeated in opening 3 games If we can a couple of additions to the team, I reckon we have a squad capable of the play offs!!! Thoughts? Austin started the game as Captain!!! What does this tell us about Pelts, and McDermotts plans for him?
More happy with the point and that we managed to retain the ball better and string more than 3 - 4 passes together... Morning all In regards to Peltier he just isnt captain material, Warnock made that mistake last season and tried to justify it by including him on the team sheet no matter what, even at left back
Morning folks Any away point is a good point. Whilst maybe not the most exciting game, we more than held our own, and looked a lot more organised than for most of last season.
Bore draw!! Yet it was well organised with the players doing the job given to them. Everyone had a job to do and they all did it well, except the odd defensive blunder. We were trying to play football from back to front, and hoof-ball has almost gone. Well done BMD, not pretty to watch but effective and earning points. (Actually stringing passes together) 2 top teams played and 4-points taken, so chuffed. The players will get better as the season develops and you never know we may end up with another couple of players this week.
qUITE SURPRISED AT THE AMOUNT OF TIMES Warnock would play the long ball down the line, and we would lose possesssion
Not sure what an OW is, or whether I held mine, Elland, but we'll let that pass. BM's record with Leeds in competitive games looks pretty good to me, if any statisticians have the facts would be interested to know. A point is what we got in the equivalent match last season, after winning the previous game (which we lost last season). So, as the supermarkets like to say, on a like-for-like basis we are 3 points up after 2 games - not a bad omen for a team that ended up 6-7 points outside the playoffs last season.
Morning all 4 points from our opening 2 against teams who should be up there at the end of the season is a great result in my eyes. Not going to get carried away and suggest we're going all the way off the back of these, but if we can maintain that sort of shape and organisation away from home, we will have a much better time of it than last season. I was a bit disappointed how many times we did end up hoofing it towards Hunt though. He was never going to win anything in the air, and like elland said, it was Warnock who was doing it quite a lot. He had some great moments but also made some pretty rough mistakes in defence as well for me. It did annoy me that we kept crossing the ball almost every time we got into the final third though. I know Kasper isn't the best at commanding his area, but it really showed how much we are crying out for some wingers with proper delivery when he comfortably collected most of the. A lot of our attacks ended with a poor cross.
Morning all. Not a great game, made even worse because I couldn't hear it on LUTV. But an away point against a team that have spent plenty is still a good away point. Sets us up nicely for the Wendies game and a bit of community singing next Saturday.
Murphy and Austin look useful in midfield. They can only improve as the season goes on. Poleon looked lively when he came on and the big lad (as expected) gets his head on everything. I still have my doubts about Varney up front and don't think he has the ability to put in consistent performances. We do look more organized and fitter. Graft however will only take us so far. A bit of spark is what's missing and let's hope Brian can find one or two just to give us a shout. One other concern I have is that quite a few of these players will know their days at Elland Road are numbered. I hope Brian is still working hard at trying to shift as much of the deadwood as possible now that the season is under way.
My take we looked like we could defend and keep a clean sheet they only had one chance so well done they whole 14 players gave their all which was very pleasing I was impressed with Austin especially If anyone watched the football league show I liked the look of Tommy Rowe scored a good goal and made anotherwould do well for us instead of Varney maybe we can swap them plus cash at end of season?
Morning all Good point away from home, keeps the momentum ticking along. Durham, you seen Hunt in the air? He will suprise you mate, he's got the leap of Scotty Pippin! Need Byram back ASAP, Pelts is not good enough in his natural RB position!
Alright Bucks I know he can leap, but wasn't seeing much evidence of it yesterday! Their back three looked at sea when we had the ball on the floor stretching them (Hunts off the ball runs are very good as well) but they were so comfortable when it was in the air it was futile. Agree on Pelts, I'd take him over Pearce at CB at the minute, but he isn't a good enough RB for us.
I guess Hunt's in the air leap is far more effective on the end of a cross, rather than trying to hold up a long ball hoofed forwards thinking about it.
could be the case Also I see Varney won a flick on but no one was anywhere near him! Thats going to be a problem as Hunt drops here and there and stretches play very well. I think Varney needs someone closer to him. Hunt will make him loads of space but I think I'd rather see Poleon charging through. Also, Varney is quicker than I thought
