Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but I couldn't find it. Really sad I couldn't be there today to give Dawson the cheers he deserves (ashbee as well for that matter). I just wondered what it was like from anyone who attended. What was the crowd like, what sort of reception did Dawson get? Did he look like he was enjoying it? What kind of reception did other players get, namely ashbee, who played in goal? Anything else of interest?

    Thanks guys!

Saw the link on SSN & less than 8000 were there. I would have expected at least 15K, but then it was only a couple more thousand when Deano had his. Was it the opposition that put people off? The time/date? The money?
Would have loved to have been there myself, still should be able to make the odd PL game with a bit of luck.

Quite simply we don't have that many fans who care enough about Dawson to attend a game that otherwise wouldn't be good enough for them.

He got a superb reception and farewell from those that cared.

He handled it very well too when interviewed on the pitch at the end by Steve Jordan.

    Eloquent, humble, humourous.

He came on against Sweaty Betis for the last two minutes- just time to do one or two things with no fuss or showboating, much appreciated by the crowd.

    Textbook testimonial stuff.

Yeah fantastic to see the legends match. Some great entertainment from some slightly oversized ex pros. Think that match finished 6-4 to Dawson's side and he managed to grab himself two goals. Deano fluffed every attempt at goal and burnsy did some actual decent funny commentary. Had definitely been working on gags all week.

Was fantastic to see great fan favorites out there again like ash, whittle, allsopp big Ben, Jason price, pederson, Neil mann mann mann. And er.... Marc Joseph.

I haven't found one anywhere. Other players I remember were 'Gav the bus driver' and some ginger lad who started sub as the other team was missing Stuart green for some reason. Both goalkeepers were random fat guys burnsy didn't even know so you won't find that. I'm not on twitter but isn't there a testimonial page? Might help you out there.

Shocking from the club really. Very little information on the legends game so I subsequently missed that (turned up just as it finished). Thought it would have been longer then 30 mins.

Service was even worse then normal. Took 40 mins to get served a pint and that was before the game started!

As for the most important part, Daws got a great reception. Standing ovation when subbed on and at the end. Plenty of chants for him too!

Jesus. I'm glad I go to the Clarry beforehand because I wouldn't have waited that long. The queues looked around the same as normal though on Saturday...

I hope it isn't the same against Norwich - the concourse will be ****ing horrific.

For the 7991 who attended it was very good imo. Nice programme as well for the game. I suspect that the true fans who had a genuine reason for not being there other the re-branding issues will be sad to have missed it. Very impressed with some of City ball retention and held Real Betis at bay. 3 lovely goals. The legends game was a nice trip down memory lane for a while. The skills are still there but the legs have gone and the gut hangs a bit. ;)

Shame that the plastics could not make it like but i guess shopping with the other arf took priority. <whistle>

Glaring omission being NOWT from the club themselves by way of thankyou or tributes- don't the current owners/directors know who he is?

Where is the voice of the club?

Would have great to se Nick Barmby there (Daws' best HCFC mate) or Adam Pearson?

Do you not realise that we are now only looking to the future - a future of Hull City Tigers/Hull Tigers, a future of foreign investment in the club, a future of re-location to a Melton super-stadium?

This is no time to dwell on the past! :emoticon-0105-wink:
