Just read this, where does all this **** come from? Sunderlandâs England Under 21 midfielder wants his future sorted out within the next couple of days and his proposed move to Liverpool completed by Wednesday, prior to him flying out with the Under 21 National Side to compete in Denmark. According to the Daily Mirror the only stumbling block which is holding up Henderson becoming a Liverpool player is the transfer fee, with Liverpool reported to offer £15 million for the highly rated midfielder, which is £3million below Sunderlandâs asking price. The highly rated Henderson has made over 70 first team appearances for Sunderland, since coming through their academy. It is however likely that the two clubs will come to a compromise and that Liverpool will capture the signing of Henderson at the beginning of the week. Henderson is just one of a number of players that Liverpool are after this summer, as Dalglish works on building a squad which is able to compete for a Champions League place at the very least. As we reported yesterday, Liverpool are very close to signing want away Newcastle United full back Jose Enrique. Morning bill, you hung over again. I want to believe its rubbish and I want to believe Quinn who says he wont be sold. I want to but, right at the back of my mind is a niggle, know what I mean..
The only source I would believe is George Caulkin TBH and nothing from him on Twitter these past few days. Unless he's gone away on his hols
Totally agree its one of those stories thats not going away and as i said i would keep Henderson but if we got £20m could we get a better player in? As for Catts £10-£15m and i think i would let him go Its been reported also Birmingham want £14m for Roger Johnson which is overpriced but i like the lad
Mornin syd. hungover? you better believe it, couldnt lie in because of it, only been back at work one day, was asked to do a weekends overtime, but going to have to rectify my broken body, so off to the football club , and like you I too have that horrible niggle at the back of my mind. hope the Mirror is talking the usual ****, but as you said........................................
No ****ing way should we sell Henderson we do that then we have no aspirations to be a permament top 10 club pushing for europe, we just become a selling club again and from that the only way is down.
liverpool echo, jun 4 2011 LIVERPOOL are yet to table bids for Sunderland duo Jordan Henderson and Lee Cattermole – despite various reports to the contrary. Stories had circulated this week that Reds boss Kenny Dalglish had made formal offers for the Black Cats pair, setting in motion what promises to be a busy summer of transfer activity at Anfield. But the ECHO understands that whilst both players are on Liverpool’s radar, no official offers have been lodged, with Sunderland desperate to hold on to two of their most prized assets. Henderson, who has also been attracting interest from Manchester City, is currently away representing England at the European Under-21 Championships in Denmark, and had been strongly linked with a £13m move to Merseyside. The 20-year-old, a product of the club’s academy, has impressed since breaking into the Wearsiders’ first team in 2008, and was called up by Fabio Capello for his first senior England cap, against France at Wembley back in November. Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is adamant that the Sunderland-born midfielder will not be leaving the club, at least not for anything less than £20m – a valuation Liverpool would be unlikely to meet. Cattermole, meanwhile, has a clause in his contract which enables him to speak to clubs who meet a set valuation – believed to be in excess of £10m. The 23-year-old has had a mixed couple of seasons at Sunderland following his move from Wigan in 2009, with injuries and suspensions hampering his time at the Stadium of Light.
£30M for the two of them would be good business. JH could become a top flight player, but to me looks a bit lightweight at the moment. £20M would be good value - let them take the risk of him not progressing according to his potential. Catts is a good player now, but he seems to be a bit thick TBH. Players who simply can't understand what they have to do to not be booked all the time are a liability, frankly. £10M+ would be more than fair IMO.
sid would you be happy for us to sell our prized assets half way through our re build and start again
