I think Celtic's RESERVES side have just confirmed what many of us know about Liverpool minus Suarez in their side <ok>

We will never be as big a CLUB as Liverpool obviously, but I would put our best 11 up against theirs any day of the week, especially if Suarez isn't about <ok>

The turnip has now said that Suarez must apologies to the club, fans and players if he wants to rejoin the first team squad. So if he doesn't apologies, does that mean he won't play? If so, why not just cash in on him I wonder.

I do agree - and I get the tone as people have deliberately wound you up - you can look at the silverware, the turnover, the fan base, hey Liverpool will always beat us on all of that. It isn't something earned in two or three seasons. It would need fifty years of huge success to place ourselves in the same position and we could never replicate that.

People like Jamie Redknapp throwing our name in for 4th place are on crack. Someone who looks at the table and sees only the places misses a bit of the point - there was a large gap in points. A very significant gap that I can't see how we could bridge. As always, the Media jumps on the bandwagon and wants to stoke debate rather than give rational comments.

Having said all of that, a number of big teams do walk around with a sense of entitlement that will always wind up supporters of the smaller teams and, when that happens, they are always going to become victims of schadenfreude.

I agree with your comment that we'd never want to see Michu to a rival (say West Brom) and I agree with that too. Maybe Liverpool have more they can do because of their finances, I don't know. I just really do not see a) what can be done to keep him playing for Liverpool at the right level and b) why anyone would want to keep him. I don't say that glibby, I completely recognise that he is probably in the top ten players in the world (with Messi and Ronaldo head and shoulders above he others), but there was a point where Man U had to sell Ronaldo and they were winning the league etc pretty regularly.

All I'm saying is that, I believe, should a foreign team make a bid (one that Suarez would want to go to) then they'd prob be better of getting rid of him and moving on. I imagine there are Liverpool fans that would agree with that position. Suarez is widely disliked and my personal opinion, there will be plenty who disagree and they are welcome to, is that he does more harm than good. All the people I know who criticise football and footballers, who miss all the artistry and good that it can produce, alway highlight players like Suarez as evidence. Honestly, I think defending his behaviour really does set a bad example. Not to be pompous, although I recognise how that last line sounds.

I really would urge Liverpool to get rid of him, although I see that it would not make sense for him to go to Arsenal.

I know some Liverpool fans on here have said that we shouldn't comment on other clubs - but then I do think that would be a rather insular approach - although I do understand the need to defend themselves, as such. I recognise that I'm as bad as anyone for criticising Rodgers but, following his attitude towards us over Allen and Gylfi, I don't share a great deal of sympathy when he is the victim.

That said, Liverpool fans are, on the whole, a good bunch and I would really want to talk more productively about other teams:

    * Liverpool, without Suarez, will finish in the top seven again. Maybe sixth, with a season of transition at Everton.
    * I can't see anyone outside of Man U, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal making the top 4... although Spurs could possibly... maybe...

It's worth thinking, if anyone thinks that Suarez should be sold, who Liverpool should go for... and make this a bit more productive.

But the trouble is though Dai, it doesn't look as if anybody else other than Arsenal actually want Suarez (nobody else put a bid in yet), so the question is do you sell him, or do you keep a player who I think will sulk about and not bother to give 100% commitment to the cause. Rodgers has also said tonight that if he wants to join up with the squad, he has to apologies. What happens if he doesn't apologies. Liverpool are then left with their best player rotting away in reserves whereas they could sell him for 40-55million and bring in players who want to play for Liverpool. It's a delicate situation there.

But that comparison is irrelevant because we are a better team than that lot and Michu would have more of a chance of winning more things with us than them. The same situation applies with Suarez.
The question I ask is this, isn't it better to cash in on a player who doesn't want to be at the club and by players to replace him (although not in terms of like for like quality) or risk having a player who I believe will sulk and not give 100% commitment and effort on the training ground (as he has allegedly been doing) and more importantly on the pitch?
Also hasn't Gordon Taylor said that there is some sort of 'goodwill agreement' in Suarez contract? If this is the case, then he should be allowed to leave, if that agreement has been met.

Dai of course your right, the clubs have all the true control,

Its not like Man U would ever allow the sale of Tevez to City nor Arsenal, Van Persie to Utd....<doh>

Liverpool will sell. All you are actually hearing in the media is political games/speeches played to the Liverpool masses to curry favour :)

Agree Swim, once Wenger tables a 50million offer, I think he's gone. All this 'stalling' is taking place so that Liverpool can probably get their replacements in before letting him go.

What do you mean (not including Swans)? Don't tar us all with the same brush Goodland - some of us can contribute in a constructive way! ;)

Hey, didn't mean to offend, Cartoonhead. I meant a Swansea thread where we talked about non-swans football stuff (how do you see Norwich doing? The Rooney transfer etc) rather than excluding Swans fans. Maybe I could have worded it better...
