FFS Brenda give it a rest , Brendan Rodgers is fast sounding like a very desperate man over the possible departure of Lius Saurez, if he thinks Saurez is just going to knuckle down and get on with it i would very much doubt it. Mind you he also knows that but for Saurez last season i suspect Brenda and Pascoe would have been looking for jobs this summer. Interview text and link below Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is confident Luis Suarez will have a successful season for the Reds - once he accepts will not be granted a transfer away from Anfield. Rodgers reiterated that the 26-year-old will not be sold this summer despite the striker's desire to leave the club for UEFA Champions League football. The Uruguay international was not named in a 22-man squad to play Celtic in a pre-season friendly in Dublin and is training on his own after accusing the club of reneging on a promise that he would be sold if Liverpool failed to qualify for this season's Champions League. On Friday morning Liverpool owner John W Henry insisted Suarez will not be sold and said it would be "ludicrous" to let him join domestic rivals Arsenal, who have had an offer of £40million plus £1 rejected. And Rodgers believes his star player will soon accept his fate and be ready to make a similar impact for the Reds this season as he did last, when he scored 23 goals in the Premier League. "Luis is training on his own and he understands totally where we're coming from," Rodgers said. "It's been a difficult period for him but it's my job to protect the group. Once he's back with the spirit he'll rejoin the group. "We're quite calm. The club is in control of the situation. We've got no inclination to sell and we've been strong on that. "Luis has fought for his life for Liverpool. There will come a point where he'll recognise the club is not going to sell and then he goes onto the pitch and he'll give 100 per cent. "He's a world class striker. I've got no question that when he's back he'll have a similar impact [to last season]." Liverpool's target is the elite level of European football, and captain Steven Gerrard has said recently that Suarez holds the key to how the club will perform in the new campaign. And Rodgers cannot help but agree. "Luis, since I've known him, has fought for his life for Liverpool," the Northern Irishman added. "There will come a point where he'll recognise the club is not going to sell and, from what I know about him, once that time comes and he has his head around it, then the minute he goes onto the training field and the pitch, he gives nothing less than 100 per cent. "That's why it's difficult in this moment, because that's not the point where he is at. That commitment that I've seen every day and the Liverpool supporters have seen is not quite there yet, but I've got every confidence that once he's fit and available then he'll be giving everything. "This guy's a world-class striker. His passion and love for football - he's at his happiest when he's on the training field and playing games. "I have absolutely no question that once he's back and available for games, you'll see a similar impact [to last season]." Rodgers also confirmed the club was working on strengthening the squad further ahead of a season-opener against Stoke on August 17. With Suarez absent from the travelling squad, striker Daniel Sturridge was a notable inclusion having recently returned to full training following an ankle injury. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...uarez-will-accept-he-is-not-leaving-liverpool Cheers Mabon
Just wish he would stop bleating on, You are not the big club you think you are or once were. Players want CL football and you cant offer it. Just ****ing accept he wants to go to a big club and let him.
Its Suarez' own fault. He should have realised last year that Rodgers has a history of going back on his word. He did it with us and Joe Allen, now hes doing it with Suarez. The man has no class and it wont be long until people stop trusting him altogether.
Another round of Brenda's Blarney ..... A strange way of making a player feel wanted and included - make him train by himself and stunt his pre-season preparation by excluding him from games, so that when he does come back from his 10 game suspension he's fully ready to go. Makes perfect sense that - not.
There is no way in hell that Suarez will just accept it - what about his behaviour in the past has informed that idea? The way that, after being found guilty of racially abusing a player he then refused to shake his hand and sought to paint himself as the innocent persecuted party? The problem for Liverpool is that Arsenal are the only team bidding. If Real did then he'd just be off in a flash - and most sane Liverpool fans would be glad of it. What'll happen is that the foreign clubs will move with a day to go - bid low and see how desperate Liverpool are. I reckon one will bid and be rejected and then a second bid will win it. Largely because face will be saved (by rejecting one bid) and time will have run out. There are a lot of interesting new strikers coming into the league (The Wolf and Hooper at Norwich, the two Man city lads, Bony etc etc) the Prem does not need him. On a side issue, Suarez leaving will scupper Brenda's season because he won't have a plan B. He'll prob do what Liverpool did when they lost Torres and throw too much money at obvious targets.
Toady's article on the BBC about Liverpool / Suarez etc, mentioned Sturridge - I had forgotten about this lad. 'Pool are not without options if Suarez goes, not by a long way. It would make sense for them to cash in now and move quickly with the time left to capture a quality, non-Brit replacement.
We ain't moaning about him, we're delighted your owners decided to appoint their second choice as your manager as we are a far better team than we could ever have imagined, under the guidance of one of the all time greats.
what should brendan do??? let suarez go to his nearest rivals i suppose... You would be up in arms if laudrup did that with michu and thats a fact......liverpool not a big club you say.. Do me a favor they are massive...
Liverpool s rival this season are us, wba and everton. But Suarez is a vile creature, and as they say karma is a bitch.
Arsenal are not Liverpools nearest rivals, they have been hitting champions league for 16 years straight, Liverpool have been out of it since 2009 and did not even make Europe this season. They are competing for 6th place, just like we are.
Ffs guys this is boarder line obsession he's not your manager and this thread and whatever Rodgers says has nothing to do with Swansea. On another note I have Michu in my fantasy footy team, do you think he will continue to bang the goals in or will defenders have his number this season?
He showed against Malmo that his placement is still deadly accurate, he will get goals again, people think last season was a one off for Michu but he did the same in La Liga the season before.
they proved how much better than us they were last season valley. we will never be as big a team as liverpool in a million years....
Being Liverpool ..... a Massive Mirage. To look in the mirror and only see what was instead of what is, is the biggest failing of all firms that once ruled their respective industries then failed to innovate and finally dropped to being one of the pack or worse dropping into oblivion. As others have said above, Liverpool is competing amongst the 2nd tier of the Prem to possibly squeak into a Europa slot. To rank them currently alongside the United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs teams is a stretch, almost a mirage of self-engrandisement. On the contrary, we have every reason to anticipate being at the top of that second tier .... being massive has nothing to do with it, being talented, well coached and consistent does. We will know by the end of September, where we stand having played most of the key clubs by that time. We will either have been a spoiler for the top teams or been spoiled by them. Injuries and suspensions not withstanding we can be optimistic to be a spoiler.
