I saw a Sky advert (aimed at BT), where they claimed 43 matches televised. I could only count 41, but City only featured in one - our opener vs. Chelsea.

And if we go down?

There'll be a backlash.

That had occurred to me too - the piss-taking we'd get! (There'll be folks working on the words and phrases right now...).

And when he gets rid of "City" in the name to call us Hull Tigers, which is what he wants, you'll do what exactly?

That's hardly the same club.

I thought they were good ideas.
I can understand sponsorship.
What I can't see any advantage in is choosing a silly name, especially if it's not clear that it has any commercial value. We are now a laughing stock outside Hull.

unfortunatly we're at the top table now and to try to compete we have to try optomise every outlet, not saying i agree, but cant condem them for trying, however misguided we think it is, time will tell if this is suscessful abroad. One thing for sure it has put us n the map if only temporarily.

So far, it's been ridicule in the media. Hardly the global image to attract support, especially when it's effectively implying the Asian market is full of gullible fools that would fall for such an obvious ploy. In contrast, local merchandising will fall as plenty of people want nothing to do with whichever of the silly brands is on offer. Presumably out of town outlets will have different branding to Hull ones? <laugh>

I don't agree with the decision but I am concerned with the fallout. The National Media will drop this like a stone after the weekend.

HDM will milk this for weeks though trying to take the moral high ground.

It's very difficult to protest against something when there is no physical evidence of its existence. This is simply about giving us 12 months notice of what will happen. That's a very long time to keep a protest momentum going.

What I would hate to see is the media trying to put Steve Bruce or the team against the Allams because that will only end in disaster.

I think the vast majority of fans will still support the team when on the pitch and go to matches but the will voice their disapproval at other times. I think there will be a boycott of merchandising and any bumbling efforts to sell overseas will be a disaster. Thompson will be gone and the Allam's will look to sell the club after destroying the real "brand".

Then we will no longer be 'Allam's Football Club', so definitely won't need the superfluous AFC. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Anyway, must head off to the KC. Thankfully I've still got a football team to support.

Given his user name, I'm suspecting he was 9. Estimating he will live to 89 is hardly unrealistic - a 49-year-old male in the UK without major health problems has a life expectancy of around 85/86.

Unless he's a smoker, of course, in which case he may as well not even buy Christmas presents too far in advance. ;-)

"What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It's not the television contracts, get out clauses or the marketing departments or executive boxes.

It's the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city.

It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love." Sir Bobby Robson (1933 -2009)
