Me, I must confess I'm indifferent*, but the stealth and underhand nature of the rebranding does leave a nasty taste in the mouth. *my indifference is more a longer standing apathy with the way football as a whole is becoming more disconnected from the fans. John Barnes take note!
From the logic I'm seeing on here, if I saved your life - maybe grabbed you before walking infront of a moving car you never saw - and I demanded that you rename yourself with my name, you'd happily agree to on the basis that you'd be dead if I hadn't?
This is getting worse and worse, I want us to be remembering the legendary Andy Dawson this weekend, and seeing Sagbo for the first time, our new goalie faces England next week and then we are top of the bill against Chelsea, Jose ****ing Mourinho's return to English football no less and what have we got, this PR disaster of a name change and Hull City AFC becoming a laughing stock and now TERRY ****WIT GERAGHTY racing down to Look North to spread his bile against my club, i could puke, who the **** is advising the Allam's? NIGHTMARE!
QPR fans released a statement a few years ago about their ticket prices. This quote kind of applies to what Assem Allam is trying to do here:
Jesus ****ing christ, some of these ******s posting today like Filey and Ableton haven't got a clue and also can you please stop trying to take the most hated poster title off me, I've worked hard for it
McDonalds are a fast food business. It's totally different to football. People don't support a club because of the name but they may ridicule a club because of a silly name. You see a lot of businesses that make out they are the best in their field. Would that work with Hull City: "We are the best football club in the world". Would anybody believe us?
Well maybe the rumor about Ilitch buying the club will gain steam now. Although the Tigers have the longest consistent name in american sports as they took their nickname and made it their official name in 1898. So maybe that would detract him.
That quote is spot on. To be honest, I do pity you for this. It's funny, but with our owners seemingly like yours (for the good of the club and its supporters) I know that we could do something as ridiculous and become the Leicester Foxes (sounds like an MLS franchise).
Since we are taking the team and Americanizing it I have our new sponser for next year. Also Roary's name is being changed to Tony.
Top post OM...When I hear 'Rugby town' Terry on the radio I want to slit my wrists. And Blunderside must think the sun shines out of his backside. The man hates CITY and Football. Honestly I give up with some of them on here. They are changing the name from Hull City AFC to Hull City Tigers Ltd. In the 48 years I have been following City (with a 10 year gap when I lived abroad) I have never heard anyone shout come 'on you AFC' The Allams risked the thick end of £40m to save the club from going under and they are been treated (by some..not all) like lepers because they want to reposition the club in order to increase its branding with the Asian markets. If I was in their shoes tonight I would think about selling the club to an asset stripping so all the numpties can go and watch Man Utd, Lpool etc..etc..
He wants to call it Hull Tigers. Have you being listening/reading. Where do you draw the line? Shal we move to Melton and rebrand to Humberwildcats
Sick to death of hearing how the Allams saved the Club - from what? at worst administration - would have been plenty of takers I would suggest. The baton has merely been passed onto them to look after this Club that I have supported for getting on half of its history. Making a right royal fook up of it I would say - I thought David Lloyd was a buffoon - the equivalent of hundreds of tennis balls may well be coming to the KC anytime soon.
The difference isn't the business sector, it's the size. McDonalds are the Man Utd of making money in their sector. We're ****ing WIMPY. If that. That's why it's a ridiculous comparison and it goes back to what Golaccio and other have said several times already: No amount of branding will make us something we're not. We need to earn these foreign fans wer're so craving after.
Is it correct that the FA have to approve the change of a club's name? If so, have the Allams gone through the process yet?
I suspect most foreign fans wouldn't give a rat's ass about us, whether we have a picture of a Tiger on a new badge or in our name. We don't have the fame of the Man Utds, Liverpools and Chelseas. It's lie to facilitate Mr Allam's desire to have his toy how he wants it, 'cos he spent a lot on it.
... I'm old enough to remember Robert Maxwell's embarrassing attempt to merge Oxford and Reading into 'Thanes Valley Royals' - no need to panic my dear Tiggers ... just ensure that 'City' echoes around the KC at every game and your owners will soon get the message ... may enjoy a bit of 'banter' with you guys now and then but I suspect that the majority of 'ours' and most other supporters on these boards are equally g=horrified by these going's on and stand firmly with you in resisting 'corporate' infection of our 'beautiful game' ....
