Even i am pleased at this as he was purchased for 4.5 million by colin ****er and Kasper was sold to get in DJ Campbell NW started all this lads as i said at the time
What? NW's signings never the less He brought big old Anton as a upgrade as Connolly, Hill and Kasper weren't good enough on his opinion. I knew they were and claimed at teh time don't fiddle with something that wasn't broke. Kieron Dyer (Free) Jay Bothroyd (Free) Danny Gabbidon (Free) DJ Campbell (£1.25m) Joey Barton (Free) Luke Young (£2.5m) Armand Traore (£1.2m) Shaun Wright-Phillips (£4m) Anton Ferdinand (£4.5m) Anton was our major signing and it was reported at the time we could of had Gary Cahill
You're missing: Adel Taarabt £600,00 Jamie Mackie £150,000 Paddy Kenny £750,000 Shaun Derry Free Clint Hill Free Wayne Routldge loan- option to buy £1.5m if Tango and Cash would have stumped up the cash
He was totally out of his depth in the PL, he was the managerial version of the players he wanted to replace.
all of the those were in the NPC, all of his bad buys were in the PL, goes with what I said of him being totally out of his depth.
I wouldn't necessarily disagree with his being out of his depth, just pointing out that he wasn't given a chance in the summer transfer window and that some of the poor signings were due to lack of funds under T&C and lack of time once TF took over.
He should never have had the chance, Id have sacked him that summer and bought a PL manager in because hed relegated every team hed managed in the PL. Then again we have an awful record in managers, only Warnock in the NPC, Dowie (our best manager statistically) and LDC can be considered a success in recent years. Sacking the managers hasnt been the problem, hiring the wrong replacements has always been the problem.
Harsh to sack a man who's just got you promoted. Anyway, we got a PL manager to replace him - Hughes.
I know it was harsh but I said at the time hed proven he cant handle the PL. I said at the time Hughes was the wrong person as well, it just goes back to my point that sacking him wasnt the problem, hiring Hughes was the problem.
I know, when was the last time you got excited by a new manager? Gerry Francis Ray Wilkins England Stewart Houston John Hollins Ray Harford Iain Dowie Gerry Francis Ian Holloway Gary Waddock John Gregory Mick Harford Luigi De Canio Iain Dowie Gareth Ainsworth Paulo Sousa Gareth Ainsworth Jim Magilton Marc Bircham Paul Hart Mick Harford Neil Warnock Mark Hughes Harry Redknapp Warnock and Sousa were the only two that gave me some excitement although Sousas negative tactics quickly dulled that. Francis, Dowie and LDC are the only other ones who for me come out with any credit. Weve had some really awful men in charge.
Hed relegated every club hes managed in the PL. His managing style of shouting and screaming wouldnt work in the PL, you need someone who knows tactics and Warnock didnt have a clue.
That's not answering the question though. I accept your points about Warnock, but most of us thought that Hughes would make a good replacement.
