Saints agree partnership with EA SPORTS

    "Southampton defender Maya Yoshida will appear on the cover of FIFA 14 in his native Japan as part of a new partnership between the Club and gaming giants EA SPORTS.

    Southampton Football Club has today announced a new year partnership with Electronic Arts Inc. that will make EA SPORTSTM the Club's Official Football Video Gaming Partner commencing from the start of the 2013/14 Barclays Premier League season.

    Through the partnership, EA SPORTS will have the rights to feature Saints' central defender Maya Yoshida as the FIFA 14 cover star in Japan alongside Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi and VFL Wolfsburg's Makoto Hasebe."

    I don't know how well FIFA sells in Asia but its great news for us and for Yoshida that he has been picked. Another snippet -

    "Mauricio Pochettino's squad will also have the chance to test their skills on FIFA 14 and find out who is the best with a Pro Player Tournament at the training ground featuring the four best FIFA players in a quest to crown Southampton's king of FIFA."

    So who do we reckon is the best at FIFA in the squad? :D

    EA is short for electronic arts, didn't know that. Don't know why people are complaining...this deal hasn't harmed us in anyway that I can see.

    Surprised it's not Kagawa to be honest, seems the obvious choice to me!

    Shaw will definitely be the best at FIFA it's all our generation does.

    Apparently it's Rickie.

    I remember when Saints did that summer FIFA tournament where they said the fan who reached the final would face the king of FIFA in the Saints squad, and it was Rickie. Unless they lied... :shocked:

    Apparently FIFA 13 only sold 100k units in Japan so maybe this isn't as impressive as it first seems! PES (developed by the Japanese company Konami, of course) is the dominant football game over there, and has licences for the Japan national team and J-league, which FIFA lacks.

    Yep, now on a par with Swindon Town.

    He's a good lad Yoshida, lucky for him he's a good player too and not another Tadanari Lee.

    They've had a tie up with EA for years.

    If Saints didn't have the Japanese captain, do you really think we'd be on the cover? It's not because of the club, its because of the player.

    Well yes, I do think so. Because... Maya isn't the Japan captain. That is Makoto Hasebe, who is also on the cover.
