What would be funny if by the end of the season we missed out on automatic promotion by 2 points - (the 2 points we could lose if our fans don't turn up in support of their club vs Coventry) then lost in the playoffs, is the response of said fans.

"Yea we missed out on promotion, but never mind, we showed the owners of Coventry what's important."

As a follower you are saying " If an Arab, an Indian, an alien, anybody turns up with a strap on the size of an excocet you will touch those toes for them!"

2008 there was a team in a automatic promotion position. Nearing the seasons end it had a match moved to Sunday after 5pm v Stoke away for TV. Loads of its fans didnt turn up the side lost and went on to lose in the plays offs.

Any on here feel guilty who didn't support that club that day?? Do they hang their heads? Season is nine months to get it right.

Thanks for the reminder but not the point I was making. If a game gets moved for TV, fair enough. Everyone knows TV seemingly controls football. Fans, teams, players, managers, coaches, everyone. But hey, clubs and ultimately players who play on TV get compensated, so they're not all that bothered. If I was a player or even SOD, I'd feel a bit bothered that some support didn't turn up simply to make a point to the oppositions owners. Especially when the manager and players get stick when fans feel they don't put put the effort in at times.

2 way street in my opinion.

I would be gutted if that happened due to Bristol City fans not backing the team on the pitch, well said Blackbird.

If you want to go fine your decision I made a different decision which is no less valid than yours. You have your stance which I accept why can't you accept that other people have different feelings about it.
It is not just a dozen people on here who are not going many of the usual coaches, vans etc. that would usually be taking our fans to away games are not running to Northampton. People are quite capable of making up their own minds and probably like me object to you calling us pathetic!

If you feel you shouldn't go, don't go. That's the beauty of an opinion. I'll be going, and couldn't care less about whether Coventry's fans are happy or not.

Also, if, theoretically speaking, Mr Lansdown or whoever owns our stadium decided to sell Ashton Gate to Sainsburys, then left Bristol and left the club without a stadium, and the only option was to share a ground with Yeovil Town, do you honestly think other clubs supporters would not turn up at Huish Park to support our fans? Really doubtful.

It is the point you are making. Massive game as well. Fans stayed away big time from a game at Stoke on TV they obviously then lost promotion was your point. Less excuse there as nobody was calling for fans to make any stance or call. Hypocritical in my book. People point the finger at the Dragons in Wales, at the shiitty national team, at the fa, football league scudamore and the EPL and then just go along with everything like sheep.

Is it just against the owners? For me its also about those who govern the game and can't look after it.

Which is what he has already said he will never do. That is a fact. No need to make up mythical scenarios which are disrespectful to SL to fit an argument.

    not at all
What I mean is: To support a team I can do from my armchair, to follow is to do, and do is what I aim to do........

I cited it as an example to get your views on whether you think fans would do it for us. If it were Bristol Rovers or Cardiff would you feel the same way? I wouldn't. I'd still turn up where ever they were playing and support my team. Like Coventry, I couldn't care less about the feelings of their fans, and I'm sure they wouldn't care about ours.

I do agree, the people who govern the game should be doing more, but they don't. If they don't care why should I?

    <party>

EDIT: Going back to the example you gave. If the game you're talking about was moved for TV purposes and I couldn't make it due to other commitments, sure, I wouldn't go. Part and parcel of being a decent sized club, in a decent league, that is shown on TV. Otherwise I'd make every effort to. But I wouldn't refuse to go just to make a point to the FL fixture people. I'd probably have felt a bit guilty for not going if I did.

Unaware of anything's on at the gas. If fire and passion had mobilised themselves v the re-brand I expect city fans would have stayed away like they DID in big numbers for the bubbles in Wales. Other clubs fans have done similar. I have little doubt fans will stay away from Coventry at this point other clubs at this point ours ARE and that small allocation would have been sold out at the Ricoh weeks ago. It's a minority of those who do travel who are going.

You have the opportunity to make those running the game care everybody does and always have. the currency they understand is crowd figures because empty stadiums won't keep the tv gravy train going.

I don't understand all this bickering if you want to go, then go if you want to boycott the game stay at home listening to the radio. Everyone has their opinion mine is if I was in the country would be to go, not that I don't feel sorry for them, but where was they when we were a gnats bollock away from bankruptcy.

And RR just because I've not masterbated over SoD don't mean I never doubted him, but please one draw and a win against two teams two leagues below us this time last year don't make us Brazil

Bickering? It's discussion. In a discussion forum. And I said that already. If you feel you shouldn't go, don't go. That's the beauty of an opinion.

You can go on all day about the situation at Coventry but the simple fact is that we had nothing to do with it. We have to focus on the only thing that matters, and that is us - Bristol City!
