Nice. We could get Skrtel to skewer him on a huge hand-held drill whilst screaming 'Screw you, luis!" like a Scandinavian berserker!

    Too far...?

rodgers puts manners on his star.

its a battle of discipline. if rodgers is waeak others will walk all over him.... skertl etc.

if rodgers follows through having bent over backwards to lick sphincter all summer then at least he's put the guy in his place.

    however and i quote:

Taylor, the chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, insists clubs must tell their players what is acceptable.

He said: ‘This is a situation involving two of our biggest clubs and a very sensitive time and it reiterates the message we want to get out.

‘We are a multicultural society and a cosmopolitan league and players must have equal respect for people regardless of their nationality or skin colour.

‘You can understand Liverpool being upset as they are a top quality club with a top quality manager but perhaps it is a timely reminder that players new to this country need to be advised about what is unacceptable.’

    and

Taylor condemned Suarez’s conduct and highlighted the need for suitable behaviour on the pitch as footballers become inadvertent role models, telling Sky Sports News: "It was not good to see to say the least. It was unacceptable.

"His reputation for controversy continues to increase when he can be such a good player, one of the world's best, so it is a real dilemma now.

"It's uncalled for, it's not good, it's depressing, it's such a shame for a player who's a really good footballer but this is not the first time that such things have happened. I know it's a really difficult one for Liverpool and the FA are going to have to deal with it.

So suarez... having no balls at all now has this

However, Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor explained there is no clause in the player's deal that means Liverpool have to sell him if a club offers more than £40m.
"If there is a minimum offer of £40m then the parties will discuss things but it does not say the club has to sell," said Taylor.
"There is a 'good faith' clause in relation to serious discussions, but I can't say it is a cast-iron buy-out clause."

Suarez is prepared to take the issue to the Premier League to force his exit but Liverpool insist they do not have to sell and Rodgers says Arsenal's offer remains well short of his club's valuation.
The forward took legal action against former club Groningen in 2006 when a bid from Ajax was rejected. He went to arbitration and lost - but was still sold as the Amsterdam side increased their offer.
Taylor will contact both the player and Liverpool in an attempt to help mediate on the matter, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger "on standby" to do a deal.
"I just feel, like in any other transfer, it is better for both parties to get around the table to try to resolve it," Taylor added.

I find is quite amusing how one of the most outspoken, bandwagon jumping, publiciy seeking clowns is not suddenly in suarez corner and the Uruguayan has turned to the tender mercies of the PFA... hilarious.

As previously said, if he stays and plays well and helps us into 4th then he could be the antichrist for all I care. But only if we can't offload him abroad for the right price. £50mil+ from anyone else in Europe and we should bite their hands off. I really can't quite understand how disrespectful he is being to the fans, if he's had a squabble inside the club with Brendan or Ian Ayre then that is a separate matter. His obvious disdain for the club as a whole though is pretty disgusting and completely unnecessary given the support he's had.

Yep, yep. If Real come for him, might be able to bring back the glory that is Xabi. If not, could use Suarez to bring in Heno or Erikson. Would prefer Heno, but think deal might have gone by now. Erikson a great prospect, though. Really need another striker. Without Suarez would have to rely on Aspas and then Sturridge (when fully fit) for goals, and hope Borini improves massively, and stays uninjured throughout the season. However, who do we replace Suarez with? That's the Billion Dollar Question!

Such a misleading thread, he hasn't back-tracked at all lol, thought you lot had dug up something interesting then! I even wasted my time looking through the Marca website :p

So he basically reaffirms his desire to leave but is trying to do it in a way that everyone doesn't hate him. (LOL) This is what you'd expect.

I've always said we "the masses" fuel the machine. It's our money and interest in the product that makes it what it is.

Just look at that twat Bieber, same principle, and the more they are adored the more it gets exploited and the more they the target for this adoration despise us for it. he actually spit on fans, Suarez spat on Liverpool fans in a way by his actions.

I expect a bit of honesty rather than his after the fact reasoning. He should be man enough to not try squirm like a rodent covered in Vaseline now that he has not got his move, instead of biting the bullet and eating some humble pie, and just coming out and saying "it is what it is, I will give my all until a time I do move on" he tries to squirm out of some the responsibility of what he did, or rather the way he did it.

Good shout, TBF. I await the ramifications of suarezgate with interest ... but would like it resolved a.s.a.p so we can focus on the [most] important matter of this season's progress in the premier league.

as long as we get 40mil for him i'm happy.... if we toss wenger around its even funnier.

Aspas is getting a serious sell job by the club right now but time will tell in the prem. he looks decent v "european" teams.

Borini is total gash, has been all preseason frankly and i'll be shocked if he improves when the real stuff begins. should not even be considered as starter.... FFS i'd even rather bloody stewie than him.

I would buy in someone to give sturrdige a run for his money up top and someone else to play wide.

I'd also try to start with aspas wide right and coutinho wide left... so if sturridge aint fit we are F'd....

    team is

    mingolet
    johnson toure agger enrique
    lucas gerrard allen
    aspas sturridge coutinho

the only thing we have in reserve is henderson, alberto, sterling.... all kids! same almost for kelly and wisdom... borini is unreliable, ibe is too young to depend on now... skertl, suarez, reina and hopefully downing are on thier way out....

in other words good or bad 4 senior players will likely leave before aug 31 and if we do not replace those 4 senior players we are risking a lot.... ok pepe v jones argument aint one but we've seen jones flogs. stuck with it again... no improvement. skertl out, coates unreliable, agger injury worry.... CB looks dodgy... midfield is ok but uninspiring.

I would want 3 senior pros in for the 50-60 million coming in. if thats papadopolos, say costa for want of a name and eriksen fine.... but if we don't get a move on and show our mettle and end up with downing not going... suarez in exile... reina in exile... and skertl on the bench....

    hmmm...

Eager to see the work to come in the next 24 days.

When Barnes says that it's the fans fault that players think they are bigger than their team-mates and the club, you apply that to our current plight and think hang on a minute, how can we be to blame for this Suarez situation? Directly we're not, but indirectly we are for the very reason you say. If football wasn't a spectator sport the giant money making machine wouldn't exist. It exists because of and for the fans.

This story is all about FSG, will they crack and demand the 40mil and tell ayre to go do it.

Not a good interview. All it shows is that Suarez has not took a word on board from Gordon Taylor, and more importantly he has completely ignored BR's words. Can't wait to see what LFC will do to him. Never seen both BR and Henry so pissed.

Firstly, that wasn't his assertion mate, he was saying that it was the fans idolising players like Suarez & creating 'superstars' within a team, that was to blame for his behaviour, which is total tripe.

I made the connection with the cash element, not Barnes & whilst yes, ultimately football wouldn't exist without the fans handing over their money is some, way, shape or form, there's a massive leap from analysing the roots of professional football, to then blaming the consumer for creating the behaviour of the beast.

The consumer is the victim not the perpetrator in football in general. Its the supporter that pays over the odds, has daft KO times to contend with, exorbitant TV subscriptions etc etc. The victim ultimately feeds the beast financially, but they didn't create it nor it's behavioural traits.

In any case, not every pro behaves like a twat, in some way Barnes was looking to deflect the issue onto the broader spectrum of the game (successfully if this thread is an indicator), rather than focus on the twat in question. A twat, who let's not forget, Mr Barnes fiercely defended on more than one occasion, so maybe he had his own face saving agenda when he went on air this morning...................<whistle>

yeah it's totally true, what do we expect when we elevate someone to the point that their feet no longer touch the ground. Doesn't matter if it's sport entertainment politics or anything else for that matter. I will say there are always exceptions who just love what they do so much that it keeps them somewhat grounded.

Exactly. He has not backtracked at all. In fact he had reasserted his decision to leave. The OP had completely misread the article. I cannot see how the bridge can now be repaired. However, knowing Liverpool fans they will cheer him if he cannot get a CL club to take him and stay at the club against his wishes. He is treating his club with disdain and the fans do not recognise that.
