"I hope that Cabaye will end up at a good (big?) club come September."

Ix-nay on the condescension-ay there, Chet.

God blanc acts like he hates us but he's starting to come across as some kind of jilted lover, was he banking on us to bring him out of retirement or something?
Most national coaches don't come out with this crap.

"He’s a very good player," Blanc said of the France international. "I haven’t changed my opinion. For the moment, he’s at Newcastle.

"I also read that Tottenham are interested in him. Newcastle, Tottenham, or Paris -- I hope that he’ll still be at a big club in September."

Doesnt sound as bad with the full transcript.

He's hardly going to go to a smaller club then us is he? Blanc's clearly angling for something here. He hasn't thrown the name of those other clubs into the mix for nothing. Read between the lines.

If Pardew didnt mention names in his interview then he could have a go back at him. Wish all managers would shut up when other players names were mentioned at press conferences and say "i cant talk about" until they make a bid.

    Never gonna happen mind.

I see, so if a Manager mentions the name of a player and then a club that isn't his own, we must assume that he's liable to be moving there?

Not liable, but it's clear what Blanc is angling at. He's hardly a neutral observer in this situation is he? Why is he even offering his opinion on Cabaye at all if he's not interested?

It's clear that as the Manager of arguably France's strongest club, Frenchman Blanc would know all about current French international, Cabaye.

He has been the France national team Coach and would know the player well - which is obvious interest with nobody doubting that - the point being that he's been misquoted and although he is clearly interested in Cabaye, Blanc is making no stab at the status of Newcastle United.

Blanc has no grounds to do that.

    It's something and nothing.

I'm not fussed as to whether or not Blanc is having a stab at the status of Newcastle. I'm more concerned with his admiration of Cabaye. It's clear there's some substance there.

Fair enough, it doesn't really explain the "condescension" comment in your initial post though.

Some Frenchie on Talksport claiming Cabaye wants to try another level having given two years "loyalty"!!

I'll say it again - I don't see how we'd miss him. All I'd want is a true number 10 brought in, I think Anita can do more or less the same job. Cabaye out, De Jong in and £10m change.

Well he was flat last season but he had been playing football for 22 months without a break. Obviously Blanc thinks he will find his form again with a few weeks rest in his legs, and I would hate to seem him find it elsewhere.

Though for De Jong and £10 million . . .
