I would suggest it shows your complete lack of football insight actually. Blackpool v. Preston has long since been the fixture you think it is. As for the others......i dont think so.
I had to pinch myself seeing Newport County in there ... once again. Anyone else remember seeing them in the old days? (and I'm not that old either, just 50!) ...
Indeed i do mate. One John Aldridge made his name with Newport before his Oxford and Liverpool days. What a dump the place was back then like. Lol.
I with you on this one, a competitive game a week before the big kick off will be of more use to SB to see how the new players fit in, and to fine tune his starting selection for the following week.
Without a doubt. The same applies this year just like a year ago. I wonder if SB will split his squad into 2 groups for the friendlies. It is going to be an interesting pre-season as all the players jostle for a starting place @ Chelsea. Indeed. I like a few cups shocks. Bye the way for those who dont know, The 2nd round of the coc is played W/C 26th august when Reading and all the PL teams not in europe join the party. Wigan and the rest join in round 3. Hull City will be a seeded team so will avoid PL and top end 1st round seeded winners.
Didn't help our cause against Rotherham, Doncaster or Macclesfield did it? Face it, we'll get somebody like Aldershot or Northampton, play a ****e second string and get beaten 1-0 from a goalscorer nobody has ever heard of. It happens every time we play in this cup.
WOW. Some mega Capital One Shocks this week with special pride of place going to Accrington(who won 2-1 @ Middlesboro), Newport County(who won 3-1 @ Brighton), Morecambe(who beat Wolves 1-0 @ home) and Carlisle(who beat Blackburn Rovers on pens 4-3 aet-3-3). All 4 being what cup football is all about. The lesser shocks were Rotherham(beating the Wendies 2-1 @ home), Burton(who won 2-1 @ Sheffield Utd), Stevenage(who beat Ipswich 2-0 @ home) and Preston(who beat Blackpool 1-0 @ home). Close but not close enough were Scunny, Wycome and Chesterfield last night. A jolly well done to all those teams.
Oh come on now and Cut all those negative waves. Rotherham away in round 2 and a new ground/stadium will do for me.
Carlisle United v Leicester City Doncaster Rovers v Leeds United Nottingham Forest v Millwall Sunderland v Milton Keynes Dons West Bromwich Albion v Newport County Bristol City v Crystal Palace Peterborough United v Reading Barnsley v Southampton Burton Albion v Fulham Burnley v Preston North End Liverpool v Notts County Norwich City v Bury Leyton Orient v Hull City Everton v Stevenage Stoke City v Walsall Huddersfield Town v Charlton Athletic Aston Villa v Rotherham United Tranmere Rovers v Bolton Wanderers Morecambe v Newcastle United Queens Park Rangers v Swindon Town Derby County v Brentford Watford v Bournemouth Yeovil Town v Birmingham City Accrington Stanley v Cardiff City West Ham United v Cheltenham Town
Absolute ****. What the **** is this draw all about, Simon Tomas pretending seeding is a good thing. Stick the names in a hat, pull them out, that's cup football. FFS how much more of an advantage do Sky want to give the big boys? It's bollox about giving smaller clubs a shot at a bigger club, it's all about keeping the big boys in to please the sponsors.
