I don't think there is much doubt about the ambition of Levy. By most standards Redknapp was a success but Levy did not see him as the future. AVB represents Levy's ambition and hopes for the future. We have not spent millions on world class training centre and the proposed new stadium to come 4th!

I am here to enjoy the games and see the great tradition for football continued by Spurs. I've been around a long time too, I too saw Greaves and the great team of the sixties but we are witnessing now potentialy the greatest period in Spurs history and the new stadium will see that come to fruition. I don't think it will be too many seasons before we have the team, the results, and the trophies to prove it.

There's a player I've seen who may have been giving him a run for his money for a couple of months at the end of last year...

League and cup double would be nice, that would be pretty successful, however, highly unlikely. We have brought a lot of players in so they might take a couple of months to gel, we might be in for a long season.

I see the league between the Chavs and Citeh, particularly as if they have issues they can afford to splash the cash again in January so third has to be looked at as successful. Fourth would be an improvement, a trophy and 5th would be an improvement. A trophy and 6th would take the gloss off the trophy, below that questions would be asked.

I said at the beginning of the AVB reign that he should be given 3 years to build his team, I hope he gets the chance. Last year he managed Redknapp's team and got a record number of points. This year he is building his own team. Hopefully he will be given the Bale money to reinvest. I think we are still two or three players short of a title challenge but I'm looking forward to the coming season, although I'll be happier once we have negotiated the Crystal Palace banana skin. 3 points from the first game would be a successful start.

Absolutely. I'm just glad I got to see one player people may still be talking about in years to come...

A trophy would be success for you. Top 4 will increase your chances of future success, I wouldn't count it as success in itself. But certainly an objective of high priority. I wonder if Wigan fans would trade the FA cup for 4th place last season, I'd guess it would be a divided opinion.

Agreed, that's why Greaves and Klinsmann are my two strikers in my all-time Spurs XI. Though I tell you splitting up Smith and Greaves, that's an enormous tribute to Jurgen to do that for me

Oh and Bale's in my all time XI too - the best player at the Lane since Hodd for me.

Of course I can't drop Cliff Jones the other Welsh wing wizard, so I've had to drop Perryman and play three at the back. **** it, with Greaves Jones Bale Klinsmann Hodd Gazza and Mackay with Pat in goal, we only need 3 defenders (England King and Knowles BTW)

    What is success?

People have pondered this question for centuries - "never confuse the majesty of the firmament with the star shaped footprints of a duck in the mud"

It's a Victor Hugo quote, during a passage where he states that people who achieve success via unfair or undignified means haven't truly achieved success and do not deserve our appreciation. Very apt in the sugar-daddy world of modern football.

Chelsea, Man City, et al are the ducks in the mud in this case.

Its not right, cups should matter, but what were we all most pissed off about last season...not finishing 4th.

Call me pessimistic (no, really, please do)and I love talking about top four finishes and FA cup wins but... Does everyone expect the team to gel again instantly? A new CB (or a youth out of position), a new CM, a new main striker, a new winger, that's 4/11. Now, throw in the LB everyone is talking about and another midfielder to cover Sandros injury. That's more than half the first XI thrown together with no real preseason... I just see a poor start, worse than last years, and a frantic realisation at Christmas that something large, brown and quite smelly has truly hit the fan.

I wouldn't have thought there was any division amongst their fans. There must be about £80mill difference between qualifying for the CL and staying in the Premiership or getting relegated and winning the FA Cup.
