    Oxford commentary is alright.

They think we signed Hollands, Green and Stephens over the summer, but apart from that it's alright.

Making a point of saying that Charlton are passing the ball a lot.

From a free-kick won by Church. After which Church missed a sitter before scoring again. Busy night for him.

I have found out why Church is so active from the BBC site. He is more than one person.
Simon Church scores with their right foot.
Simon Church scores with their left foot.
Must be like the Harriotts. Remember them from last season on the BBC site? Still there!

Or perhaps they think the Simon Church is a religious community?

Fifteen minutes to go. Give Jordan and Cousins a go!

No, it's Sordell for Church. Understandable.

An apt commentary on their contribution to the cause last season.

According to the Oxford commentators, Hollands helped Bournemouth to promotion and Green played against Oxford last season.

So glad we secured the signature of Stephens a month ago.

    10 changes, 4-0, all good.

Green was MOTM for the Oxford commentators

Sounds like a good win. Delighted for Church and Pigott getting their first Charlton goals on their home debuts.

Now to heap on the misery for Middlesbrough on Saturday :)

Very pleased with this, just what we needed - now let's take this momentum into the game against Boro. <ok>

Unexpectedly entertaining and enjoyable evening. Making allowances for a game but limited opposition I thought we played very well. Very little hoofball and some promising stuff.

Hamer - little to do but he Di it well
Evina - great coming forward. Not seriously tested at the back. Maybe wiggins going wouldn't be the total disaster I think it would?

Cort - very solid and entertaining in that faintly bizarre way that he often is.

Wood - I was impressed. Doesn't mess about with his clearances. Also comfortable on the ball. A good acquisition although will need to be judged against better oppo.

Wilson - tidy but didn't come forward with any authority. Better at the back than I've seen him but question marks over the quality of the oppo

Stephens - class. Utterly bossed it.

Hollands - did what he did in league 1. Solid and dependable. Not sure it's championship stuff though

Green - I've got a blind spot for him. Much prefer when he is in the team. Did lots if good stuff although get the feeling he could really grab a game by the scruff of the neck if he wanted to.

Cook - good first half nearly persuaded me that he's any good. Second half reminded me that he isn't.

Piggott - good boy. Lots of promise. Don't think he's quite ready for the first team but he sure is a prospect.

Church - knows where the goal is. Good to see him scoring soon after missing a sitter.

Good crowd noise for a poor attendance. Hard to estimate but probably under 5k. Not many full blooded tackles but all in all glad I went.

Green will undoubtedly play on Saturday after his display tonight. And if he plays like that consistently he'll keep his place.
I liked the look of Wood, could well become Morrison's partner.
Stephens' best game for a while.
Danny Hollands was for me a disappointment, made little impact on the game.
Loved it when Pigott scored, and so did his team-mates and the crowd. He deserved it too. He didn't get any service when he played on the shoulder so he came deep and had a very good second half. He showed a lot of skill in his hold-up play, and created a great chance from which Sordell should have scored.
First time I've seen Church. Took his goals well and apart from that looked a decent player.

I thought Danny Hollands had a good game as did Jordan Cook.

It was the best I've seen Jordan Cook play, but if Danny Hollands wants to force his way into the first team he'll have to work harder at it, like Danny Green did tonight.

Why is everyone so happy? Had we lost we would have lots of posters rejoicing because the League Cup is a "pointless distraction" and we are "better off out of it". Why aren't those same posters on here now bemoaning the fact that we now have to face the horror of another round?

Maybe the answer is, if you play 10 "stiffs" it undermines the argument that it is a distraction for the first team, especially nowadays when there is no Reserve League for our "mature" stiffs to play in.

I hope that CP (or the directors?) don't lose their nerve again, like they did after our great all-reserve win over Reading, and try to strengthen the team for the next round with first-teamers like they did against Preston.

Not convinced about Green. He has always looked good against Div Two opposition. And a big part of his contribution apparently was his free kicks. He won't get many opportunities for those in the first team with Kermit, Skipper and Gower around. The other problem is you cannot really play Green and the Harriotts in the same team at the same time as two strikers. They are both useless at defending and it effectively leaves a two-man midfield who would get over-run in the Championship. But they could share, or compete for, one wing spot.

So glad church has scored, said since we signed him he'd be our top scorer, but didn't publish that too widely as last time I guessed who our top scorer was I guessed Pavel Abbot <laugh>

Good win all round though lads :) 1 step closer to Wembley :p COYR

Someone on the pitch did'nt know that was a cup match, as the script was'nt followed at all. Eddie, I'm just happy we won, and by all accounts the score was a reflection on the match. Okay, it was only Oxford in the league cup, but it's the sort of game we'd have lost most other years. Now SCP has a headache (or at least I hope so) as if his idea was that fringe players needed to show what they've got, quite a few did last night.
