If everyone's fit, the team really doesn't look too shabby.

    What's our best ?

    Personally I'd like to see

    HBA Cisse Remy
    Santon Sissoko Cabaye
    Haidara Colo Saylor Debuchy
    Krul

Three dangerous lads up front. Three who can ut in a tackle and play a bit in the middle. A solid back for and Timmy.

Nice thing is there are lots of decent palyers left out of that squad: Marveau, Tiote, MYM etc.

The glass is half full and we're going to win the league

Haven't posted on here in a while but a long time reader!

I think next year we should play the 4-2-1-3 system we played in the 2011-2012 season.

    Krul

    Debuchy - Colo - MYM - Haidara/Santon

    Tiote - Sissoko

    Cabaye

    HBA - Cisse - Remy

    Centre-forward
    Left Winger
    Perhaps another full-back.

    And no sales

Would be delighted if that were to happen.

As I have been advocating 3 at the back for so long, I'll stick with it now:

    --------------------Krul-------------------

    -------Colo--------Saylor---------MYM-----

    Debuchy------------------------------Santon

    ------------Cabaye------Sissoko------------

    -------------------HBA---------------------

    -----------Cisse---------Remy--------------

If Pards fields this next season ^^^^ I may well have to borrow some kleenex off Tash !

HBA will run riot in that role I reckon.

nobody giving any width and Sissoko is an off the front man like he played last season when he first signed and it worked perfect.........

You can’t leave Cabaye and Sissoko in the midfield they will be totally over run and 3 at the back not a hope – Ben Arfa and Reimy and Cisse up top – I wish but no chance!

Yup. Sadly this is a Football Manager/FIFA tactic. I mean, I'm a fan of the look of a 3-4-2-1 formation, but don't know how practical it is. Furthermore, I know for a fact Pardew wouldn't know where to begin without full backs. Finally, drafting in Remy has made this impractical.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm struggling to find a best XI without dropping someone important. It's even harder to understand how we're going to line up with 4-4-2 for the majority of the season. Thing is, Pardew wants help or support for Cisse, be it with a partner or a number 10. First name's down (keeper aside) will be Colo, Debuchy, Steven Taylor, Cabaye, Cisse and probably Jonas. Santon then doesn't play left mid and sits in at left back, so the back four is done with one place in CM and one LM done as well. If fit, HBA will be RM. We're then in need of a DM - Tiote's probable here - and a partner for Cisse or a 10. So that's either Remy or Sissoko, with the other on the bench. I guess to start Remy will warm the bench, alongside Gouffran, MYM, Anita, Bigirimana, Dummett, Elliott and Sammyobi.

Hella strong team, that, mind. When can we start posting about Pardew's sh!tty tactics?

I agree. Been outstanding in pre-season too. But he's Colo's successor, he's not a replacement for a battler CB; Pardew likes to play with two differing styles to really impact on corners.....

Is his heart as big as Saylor's and will he be as committed as Saylor?

    My first 11 would be:

    Krul

Debuchy MYM Colo Santon/Haidara/Dummett (not seen enough of Dummett and think this is genuinely a close 3 way battle, Pardew should chose his preferred two and loan the other out to another Prem team if possible)
    Anita Cabaye Sissoko
    HBA
    Cisse Remy

A narrow 3 in midfield, with Anita and Cabaye particularly good at keeping the ball. Sissoko has a great engine and and carry the ball long distances so a nice mix in midfield with Ben Arfa in a "free role". The midfield 3 have to be clever enough to realise when the other two break they have to sit etc.

Full backs provide the width, all of Debuchy, Santon, Haidara & Dummet love attacking. In the modern game your full back are essentially your wingers (Barca being the best example of this).

We need to keep the ball better so for me Anita starts ahead of Tiote. Having said that every game is different and that's the best thing about our squad, we have genuine options in every position so I fully expect Pardew to be dropping people if they're under performing this season. We simply can't afford for him to have his favourites when we have very good quality players on the bench/not being picked that are desperate for a game. It's how you keep everyone motivated and on form, just make them aware every time they're picked they're playing for their place the following week.

Hmmm, it's tough, but assume we get Gomis in and quality left winger then our bench will look strong for the first time in a while!

    I'd go:

    Krul

    Debuchy MYM Colo Santon

    Anita Cabaye Sissoko

    HBA Cisse Remy

    And the bench:

Elliot, Saylor, Haidara/Dummett, Tiote, Marv, Guti, Gouff - Could be a case of some good players getting left off the bench, particularly if Gomis and a winger come in!

    OR

    -------------------Krul-------------------

    --Debuchy---Colo----Yanga------Santon--

    -------------Tiote----Sissoko------------

    -----------------Cabaye------------------

    --HBA----------------------------Remy

Personally I'd go with the 2nd formation as it gives us cover for the full backs to push on and leaves Cab's just off the front 3 to string balls through the defence for them to run on to. Siss and Chieck in front of the defence would be a scary proposition for attackers.

Elliott, Saylor, Raylor (Dumett/Haidara), Anita, Marveux, Jonas, Gouffran

Not really sure these are two different formations - - Sissoko can push up or drop back as needed during the course of a match.

Nice formation though. Also nice that there's no room in it for the Gouff, or Anita, or Marv, or Guti, or Saylor.

Poor old Saylor, out of favour with everybody it seems. At least we'll have a good bench.
