Jeremy Wilson says Arsenal have made an enquiry for Cesc Fabregas and also haven't forgotten about Rooney should our Suarez bid fail.

It's obvious we need to strengthen. So far this summer the club have been clearing out the deadwood, something the more critical observers have been requesting they do, so there can be no complaints there. Also, it's clear we're willing to spend money for the top talent, so again there's no cause for complaint. As far as the club's business goes so far, you can only say that they are making the right moves towards signing some new players. We all know that deals can be tricky, so the final picture isn't just down to Arsenal's intentions.

The only real judgement of how we fair in this window can only be assessed when the window closes.

I'm loving the players we seem to have interest in this window - Cesc, Suarez, Rooney, Bender - i really hope we manage to get a couple of these signings we keep hearing about done :p

I genuinely belive we will make at least 1 big name signing, if we make 2 big name signings i'll be ecstatic. On top of that we need other additions, but 1 or 2 big names would really impact this team.

All the players seem convinced we will have new faces in this season.

I wouldn't say no to Rooney, but this signing is unlikely. His obvious destination should he leave Man U is Chelsea. He also suits the kind of people playing for that club eg. John Terry, Ashley Cole etc.

Our main and probably only striker target is Suarez. Just pray that Real don't step in otherwise we'll end up with nothing.

Rooney would never join us. And I don't think I could stand to look at his ugly face. But there is no doubt he would walk in to our first team atm. Not sure he is value for money though. £30m not accepted. Certainly don't think he's worth more than 35

EDIT: just realised this is the arsenal rumours thread not lFC! but my point still stands...!

Rooney wouldn't just add quality to Arsenal, he would bring a ****-you attitude that you desperately lack.

Fabregas and Rooney would be brilliant.

But Keeper, Full Backs, Centre Half and Holding Midfield are much more pressing issues.

Full-backs are fine - Monreal will be back soon giving us our 4 main FB options available. A Defensive Midfield option and a CB would be useful!

But i think it's more important to add a couple of really top quality players who can win games, to take us to the next level.

Surely the thread ends when the business is concluded. There could be another 200 pages of this yet.

It also started out discussing the January window, so the title is misleading.

Imo you don't "need" Suarez or Rooney, but big teams will always capitalise on available top talent.

I think the aquisition of either of these two is more to send a message that the lean times are over, and Arsenal are looking to get back to the CL final / Top teams in the Prem.

The purchase of a CB would be much much more important, and the buying of Fabregas is more sentimental. You have Wilshire, Arteta, Cazorla and Rosicky/Diaby when fit, where would he play?

Wherever he wants, he's far better than any of them

Diaby is out for almost the entire season already and even after that if we are going to persist with him (very talented but injury prone) he will be eased back over time and takes a while to get back ready to play. So i doubt we will see much if any of him this season.

Fabregas is good enough that you'd re-shuffle the team for him, he is absolutely world class. Fabregas could sit deeper, or cazorla could be pushed out wide etc...

One of Suarez or Rooney is so we have a main forward option so that Giroud canbe used in the type of games he is a beast in but not have the pressure of performing all the time on his own.

Our back-line is fine for first team players imo, any CB would likely be a back-up. The Mert-Kosc partnership works really well but we are short on numbers at the back particularly with Vermaalen injured for 6 weeks. They only conceeded 5 goals in our last 10 games and our defence looked solid since kosc came into the team.

Rooney and Fabregas would be amazing. I dont think Man United are likley to sell to a rival though.

In terms of defence. We had the second best in the league last year. I think we are fine for Centrebacks and Fullbacks.

For me CF and Defensive midfield are the key areas we need to strengthen.

Julio Cesar is on the verge of a move to Fiorentina. We aren't going to sign a goalkeeper, are we?
