Bristol City Football Club has issued an apology to supporters affected by the queues to purchase matchday tickets ahead of Saturday's game with Bradford City. It caused some fans to miss the start of the match, something managing director Jon Lansdown says is unacceptable. He said: "This is not up to the high standards that we set ourselves at Bristol City FC. "I have had a full debrief today, where we have discussed all contributing factors to make sure that any issues are remedied ahead of the Wolves game. âWe must ensure a similar situation does not happen again at this or any other fixture." Commercial director Kevin Smith commented: "We have a clear ambition to attract new fans and also make sure that everyone enjoys the best matchday experience possible to encourage them to return. Unfortunately on this occasion we have not achieved that for everyone. "There was a sequence of events that led up to Saturday's queues but it is imperative we are better prepared for every eventuality and Iâm sorry to everyone affected." The club will also look to rectify turnstile issues in the Dolman and Wedlock Stand before the next home game with Wolves on August 17th. Why didn't they do something on the day? if they were not told then they need to sack the useless people they have as stewards and matchday ambassadors, If they were told then sitting on their arses for 48 hours thinking up that apology is just not good enough If they want our money we want action not words. 'Missed the start of the match' I have spoken to people now who left the ground just before half time having not managed to get a ticket and one of them drove down from just outside Scarborough with his family cutting a day off their holiday.
Same old response we've come to expect. Don't say sorry and then let it happen again and again. Sort it out, and sort it out NOW, so there is no repeat, ever again
Its a shame they just look at ticket machines or buy tickets on the gates for cash as the current system they brought in doesnt work as they could have 10k people turn up on the day before the game to buy tickets where they probably couldnt handle 10 people with the new systems. There is too few stewards / staff and what they seem to lack common sense or experience
The club's response seems very tame to me considering that the ticketing and scanning problems have caused significant distress to a not insignificant number of supporters, And some of those may well never come back again! This isn't the first time we've had problems with entry to the stadium and I well remember the chaos back in the nineties when there was a large number of fans outside the ground for a match against The Gas and because of the inadequate number of open turnstiles, some decided to break down an exit gate. Thus many of us in the lower Williams had to stand by our seats to see the game. This event brought in the pay for ticket at a sales booth with no money changing hands at the turnstiles. I've never heard of such problems at any other club. Has anyone else heard of any? This latest event could be overcome very easily. All unsold seats at three hours before kick-off should be printed and used for last minute Pay On The Day.
Quite so, I was one of the many thousands stuck there! On the subject of turnstiles there has always been the suspicion of attendances being fiddled and understating the actual crowd passing through them for tax avoidance and this has been going on for decades...
They had the same problem at Newport County, but I believe they sorted it by allowing people to pick up tickets on Fri or paying on the day and reclaiming money. So there is a way around it. If it is thought out.
I've received this reply from David Lloyd with regard to Prem's shocking treatment. 'Thanks for your email. This supporter has contacted me directly and I have issued him with a full apology for the unacceptable way in which he was treated. Regards David Lloyd' Prem - Has he ?
