It was awesome seeing Danny Rose bomb up and down that byline. Can you imagine having it down both sides. Although he has bags of potential and would be welcome back, I'm sure there's better out there. I know the midfield lads can do a job, but we've forgot what it's like to play with true balance it's been that long. I don't want midfielders at full back! :(

I think Colback and Gardner can and have done a job at FB; what concerns me is if we don't sign any, what's plan B if one or both get injured ?

Brown has played at full back, as has O'Shea in the past - but you can't trust the fitness of one and O'Shea is surely first choice CB ?!

Gardener can't play full back. In a one on one situation he gets too square on, then dives in

Colback can plug a hole there, but it ain't in his game to give us what we want going forward

I would be amazed if we fail to sign 2 specialist full backs before the window shuts

    it's depressing indeed.

Just when i thought we were building a half decent squad PDC pisses around with our full backs signings, doesn't sign Mavrias and ships a very promising young centre mid out!

With Peruzzi, Mavrias and N'Diaye we were onto something instead who out of the new lot are starters? Mannone, Giaccherini, Cabral and Altidore. 4 out of 8/9 signed

With reference to Cest's OP, I totally agree that its a joke that we are in this position even more when you think Cuellar will probably play right back as Gardner is suspended BUT you cant say we have not tried this window and I bet as much as we are frustrated so is PDC but its not his job to get the deals over the line.

Short term we are short in these areas but I am not really excited about this season, its the future of SAFC I am excited about with such a clued up coach and scouting team our long term future looks very promising, can't wait to see our team at the start of next season!

I am expecting a rocky bedding in season but as long as I see improvements on last season I wont be whinging and moaning (too much).

Cuellar can't play rb, he's so slow he's rooted.

We know that but hes our last line of defence, only other player I could think could cover for Fulham is Larsson, total desperation.

Larsson would be my choice if it came to it. However, I think our new rb will slot in there nicely. Not giving up hope. KTF init.

Plenty of cover at CH. Surely, two of Brown, O'Shea, Cuellar, Roberge, Colback and Bardsley (he is still a SAFC player after all) and as some say Larson (AAAAAAGGGH) McClean, can cover full back at a push. It's crazy to say we have nothing in that area. First three games won't kill us. Fulham, Palace, Saints. If it does then we have a long hard season a head.

I think it's crazy to say we have options. We have one fullback at the club (bardo) The rest would be playing out of position, Those aren't options, it's forced necessity.

It's simple. We buy two proper ****ing full backs and stop all this navel-gazing **** with Jack and Gards.

We know last season was bad by the amount of work that Mig had to do saving our arse....

Exclusive-market: Gino Peruzzi returned to Sunderland

On The Web On this site
    14.25 HOURS-author: Livio Gandi

We are aggiornavi on front of Gino Peruzzi. The right back that much like in Catania, according to the latest rumors collected by TuttoCalcioCatania.net, more and more difficult to transfer at the foot of Mount Etna. Indeed it turns out that Sunderland, after having expressed initial concerns related to the physical condition of the Argentinian, is seriously considering the possibility of perfecting the purchase by Peruzzi. Also because it has received significant reassurances by medical staff of Velez and, above all, by Professor Pier Paolo Mariani, the famous orthopaedic Villa Stuart clinic. You go, therefore, to the passage of the Sunderland player: the operation should be concluded on the basis of about 3.7 million.

if it was back on, it would explain the total lack of links to a right back other than Peruzzi all summer.

I reckon we will sign both Peruzzi and Danny Rose still.
    Just a feeling.

We don't need a right back, or left back. We need another centre back and striker. Get playing a 3-5-2, with Sess in the hole. That is the best way to get the best out of what we have and ourto get the best out of our best players.
