This thread is amusing because it just shows how everyone is different in their outlook and approach not only to City's prospects or plight but to life in general. There are people who generally look for positives and those that generally look for negatives in things, neither are usually any more right than the other in reality. I try and look at the positive side of life mainly because I find it more enjoyable believing that good times are around the corner rather than bad times, my wife (and also her mother) however tend to be pessimistic about everything. We are both season card holders and so go to games regularly and she is so fatalistic sometimes (yeah and it drives me mad too), if the other side score - that's it we are going to lose by a landslide, if there is an ex city player in their team - it is fate that they will score against us (none of their ex players in our side will score for us by the way!!), if we are on tv we will lose, if the ref is not her choice we will lose and so on and so on! She gets it from her mother we were taking her for Sunday dinner at Fergie Fawcett once, firstly she was convinced they would be closed as we tend to eat later than her (about 6.00 - 6.30), then when we pointed out they served until at least 9.00 she was convinced every car heading towards Walkington (we were traveling from Hessle) was going to the same pub, they would get there first and take all the tables and even if we did get a table they would be in the food queue first and clean it out. I think we should all just chill a bit and accept that some people are generally positive (they would say realists) and some are pessimistic (they would say realists) and either way neither are a better supporter of the club than the other. Ok rant over thank you and good day
People are better fans than others. There's the likes who use these forums, who I imagine are the type Togo through thick and thin and cheer on the lads, despite the odd whinge and a moan about them playing crap that time and this player not quite up to it and Steve Bruce being the manager. Then there's arsewipes like and Barnsley who gush to the front to hurl torrid abuse at the players, the ****stains who leave in the first half if we go 2-0 down, the dickheads who went to hillsborough just to assault the south yorkshire police over a situation long gone and already beig dealt with in the correct hands by the authorities. And the bus ****ers of course. Also ******s like mussy who I've just remembered who refuse to go because we're playing in too good a league. So there are better fans than others, but between all the true supporters, no one is better than any other despite their opinions or way at looking at things.
Supporting any football team is similar in ethos to politics and religion. Fundamentally it's hard to argue that opinions (although different) are wrong. As long as they are an opinion and not a comment about a factual statement or event. Everyone's opinion/view can be respected however extreme it may be, without having to agree or disagree with it. It's the massive spectrum from optimism to pessimism through to a dash of realism on this board, and in supporting football as a whole, that makes it all so much fun and engaging. It's a bit churlish to complain about that when we're all part of it. Better spent time forming your own thoughts than concerning yourself with other people's that you'll never change.
Aside from your use of the word true (which I don't think carries meaning outside of objectivity), I totally agree. It's people who think the opposite of that who are annoying me. Sorry, why isn't Mussie going to be at the games? Is that a joke?
Mussie doesn't like the Premier League and claims to be only supporting North Ferriby until we get relegated.
Well said mate - too many people think if you stop guzzling down everything the owners et al. say and do you're somehow anti-hull city.
she sounds like a right barrel of laughs. I'd divorce her. but that's just me fatalistic negative people should be put out of their misery. if I was you, I'd have a word
I couldn't; I was still in school when we were playing Torquay midweek and I wasn't allowed! I once went to Swansea away after I told my Dad I was going to Wet 'n' Wild in the NE. I told him on my 18th birthday and he wasn't impressed. So now he hates Swansea
You left out the comment 'I remember boothferry park one night with 1500 other's quote. That one always annoys me. City fans are always trying to get one up on each other too, ''I've been to 8 away games this season '' ' I've been to 11' conversation. We should all just get along
Some supporters and their opinions clearly have more weight than others. I'm thinking of people who are old enough to have seen Raich Carter play reading that Ben Burgess was 'a legend'. People who have seen 55,019 people in Boothferry Park etc The more you have seen the more your opinion is likely to hold water. This is true in all walks of lives and activities. How can you take people who say "Corrie Evans is ****" or "Fryatt is ****" seriously? Most of the 1990s saw players in black and amber who could only dream of the quality of these two. With experience comes perspective. The only thing the young fans win on is enthusiasm (in theory) where their lack of experience is a plus as they get more excited by what they see. Shame they have so many silly draconian restrictions placed on them in and around football grounds.
Yes we got in ok thanks with plenty of space and a full buffet, the food is great there and would recommend a visit!
I've seen one Hull City game, my opinion is worth just as much as someone who's seen 1,000 games. Discuss.
