Every position can be improved, no point in standing still

How much would Will Hughes cost? If its anything over £8 millilon then I would rather avoid, there is a gold mine of great young players in the Romanian, Croatian and Czech leagues who wouldnt cost much at all

So who is this depth in defence? If we loose either left or right back for an extended period i would be seriously worried. And would worry a little if we lost a centre back also.

There are several things wrong with this post:

    1. You are playing Morgan out of position.
    2. That team is not capable of challenging for Europe.
    3. Damiao would significantly improve our first team.

If our 5 best players from last year: Boruc, Lambert, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Cork were injured long term we could play

    Davis
    Chambers Yoshida Lovren Shaw
    Wanyama Davis
    Puncheon Ramirez Lallana
    Rodriguez

I would fancy that to beat last season's best team and to beat the majority of lower table teams. Realistically we can't afford to buy a good back up team but I am confident that we have enough off the bench and in reserve.

Talk of Damiao seems a bit of a moot point now.

Unless Blackmore is talking out of his rolls again.

I'd ask the same question about strikers. I'd also add that Lambert didn't have a great goal record under Poch, Rodriguez (barring one relatively short purple patch) didn't look like a great finisher and Poch played Mayuka for a total of about 60 mins, which suggests he doesn't rate him. I'm not too worried about Lambert and Rodriguez but we certainly don't have depth up front.

BBC Solent are kept well-informed by the club normally. I'd trust Blackmore to be right.

I'm happy we're not signing Damiao for the touted fees.

I'd lose no sleep over the Damiao deal being dead, considering the extortionate fees we were linked with. I'd imagine Nic and the gang felt the same way, and clearly Internacional won't budge, which would explain it being off. I definitely feel we need a striker - not even going into depth, Lambert isn't getting any younger and Rodriguez, while I thought he was good from out wide, has shown no indications of being a long term centre forward because of his finishing - the goal against Chelsea was probably the only really good finish he had.

Well I'm hoping to hear some alternate names soon! If Beef's source is on the ball again, then I think there's a good chance of Diamanti or Sau. I'd be happy with either.

Showing no signs of improvement either, judging by the game against Celta Vigo.

13 days left now, so considering how long these things seem to take, this could be the squad we go to West Brom with. Not that it would as much of a disaster as last year, but we wouldn't quite have a complete side yet. Two attacking players would be great but I think it might just be one, maybe it's just me.

I think it might be none! Last January was very quiet except for a couple of bullshit rumours and Coutinho, we all thought they'd just be doing business quietly, and it turned out nothing happened except a dude who didn't see a minute of pitch time. Maybe just me being pessimistic, but I'm not sure, I can't see anybody coming in now.

Sorry, but in my opinion, with the current squad we have very little chance of challenging for Europe.
