people do fret and moan. Already heard a couple saying 'get rid of bruce' after letting Evans and Cairney go !
I hope they weren't serious; they were two fringe players. The transfer window doesn't shut until next month, so who knows who will come and go before then. NP is apparently interested in Koren again. But with Cairney and Evans gone, I can't see Bruce letting him go and his experience will be vital for the younger players. The 4-3-3/ advanced 4-5-1 sounds like it might be a good plan B (or plan A when our 3-5-2 falls flat) away from home and it sounded like Dresden struggled to cope with the pace of Brady and Aluko. I'd like to see us getting our wide players into the box more; they're the ones that win us penalties and as we saw by the amount of spot kicks we won last season, we didn't do that enough.
If the bottom 10 is as tight as it was last season we have a chance because I think the quality last season was poor. The poorest the Premier League has been for a long time, like everyone thought Stoke were destined to go down with their horrendous run and then they won a couple of games and ended up finishing 13th. They only finished 3 points off 17th, fingers crossed it will be like that again and we have a decent chance.
You're talking bull man, the reality is that while we may not have some big stars we do have a lot of quality in the squad. What is going to get us there is the phsycology of the team ethos, one for all and all for one and all that. This is where (in my opinion) Bruce has been more astute than most managers in this league. Getting behind them when things are good is easy, when the performances are down is when we need the same phsycological attitude as fans, the players will sense that and improve their performances. As I said in a previous thread they can finish between 13-16.The right support from us will go a long way to help make it happen.
I'm so sick of Stoke. I never see them win a game, but they always end up finishing mid table. You look at the players they have, hardly any of whom we'd have in our squad and wonder how they keep doing it. I think they'll try and play a more balanced style of play next season under Sparky, which might put them in trouble as they're more suited to being a battling, direct team.
I think so, he will try and make them a more footballing side which I expect will **** them right over, but I find it very strange as they've only brought in two players and they're both defenders? God knows what they're gonna do.
I'm actually surprised nobody has moved for Shawcross yet. It can't be doing his England chances any good staying there.
I'm just going along for the ride and going to enjoy this season-no one thought last year we would be where we are now. I believe we will be in the mix to stay up next April
I think Stoke will struggle playing totally different football under Hughes, DiCanio won't do too well at Sunderland he upsets too many of his players & Newcastle will have internal problems with Kinnear & Pardue. Just three teams to be possibly below us at the end.
Am I missing something? 'Totally different football'? Hughes is without a doubt THE premier league manager most like Pulis. He plays awful, direct defensive football. Its totally swapping like-for-like by appointing him.
West Broms squad looks pitiful, I think they'll be deep in the mire without Lukakus goals. As for us we need to pray Sone Aluko is as good as we all thought he looked last season.
Old man Anelka is finished, he only managed 3 goals in 20 odd appearances in the Chinese league. Shane Long 8 goals in each of the last 2 seasons, reasonable but hardly something to hang your hat on. They'll struggle majorly in my opinion.
to quote this guy 'I won't be sad to see him (Bruce) go now !' - that's his exact words. This bloke who came into my work place last week !
