Glad it not just me, can't find it on the offy, Sky or the BBC. The ground was fuller than I thought it would be, seemed that not many season ticket holders were away on their holidays. The very best part of 18k I would have thought.
More importantly than numbers, the atmosphere was hugely positive and got behind the team. We dodged a major bullet by NOT booing Barton. There were just a couple of times when a poor pass or kick was greated with a groan from the crowd. Crazy. My response to those is to cheer louder, get behind them and encourage them to do better! COYRss!!
To help in this cheering when players cock up concept my son and myself have learned a useful technique from recently acquiring a dog. Whenever Shaun Wright Phillips gets the ball, shout encouragement as you would to a young dog. "Well done, Shaun", "Good boy , Shaun". Never shout criticism as this can damage confidence. It improved my enjoyment of Shaun's performance no end. We only failed in this approach once, when Shaun got to the by line only to toe poke the ball out of play immediately in front of himself. Then we were laughing too hard to offer encouragement. Good boy Shaun!
That was just in front of us in PU. He was running so fast and the momentum on the ball was just too much. Nevertheless it was a chuckle / raised eyebrow moment. I like your style though - shout encouragment!
Reminds me of that popular dog video on Youtube .... "Barton! ... Barton! ... Barton! ... Barton! ... Oh Jesus Christ! ... Barton!".
The mood was very good at LT Saturday ... I was sitting over in the sun and my make up run a bit ... I also had two spare seats next to me. so i could open my legs a bit. Nines defo take you up on your offer for any evening matches? Brighton? .. we could wear gold hot pants
I'm thinking lime green mankinis. We might get lucky that night. But gold hot pants is good. Mine are in the wash at the mo.
