Don't want to be too controversial, but,is football not a team game???Why should one player be getting sixty odd thousand pounds per week and another just seven thousand pounds when they play for the same team on a regular basis?Surely, ever team-player is worth the same as his team-mate!Why should a centre-forward be worth more than a goalkeeper? The rumours about Sess's wages compared to young Colback's wages may just be why Jack's agent hasn't got the youngster to sign a new deal.I may be barking-up the wrong tree here, but why could our club set a marker, and state publically that we have a "wage-cap"???

That`s a bloody good question that like.

A wage for the 1st XI, lower for the 2nd XI, etc.
Haven`t got a clue how it would work.
    Hell of an idea though.

grandpops,it might not be such a bad thing if the club came out and stated that the first-team wage was,say 40K a week, and was less for reserves, with an incentive for moving-on to the first-team.

We've been daft with wages in the past but I think we've learnt from that mistake and the structure is starting to reflect squad status. Why should a still developing utility squad player (Jack) earn anything in the same region as your best player, regular point winning game changer who's going into his prime (Sess)?

How many Sess shirts do you reckon we've sold compared to Colback shirts?

Nothing against Jack, love him and want him to stay but if he expects us to make the same mistake as we've made with Bardo, Kilgallon and Bramble (Squad players who were on ridiculous money) then I'd wish him the best and accept his transfer request once a replacement was obtained.

So long as we're not nose diving into the red then I'm happy with our wage structure. It's the sugar daddies who need to sort their act out. Egging on other teams like Portsmouth to take a risk to try and buy success, Leaving fans clinging on to a sinking club. Iron out the financial fair play loop holes and get the big spenders to conform and start treating this sport with the respect it deserves.

Unfortunately the division between premium players (strikers) and their providers (the rest of the team) can never be quantified. It's a sad fact of life that football is driven by short term solutions and if a player is needed the buyers will pay the wages demanded.

The common sense answer came from Matt Busby 50 or so years ago when Dennis Law wanted a pay rise for being the outstanding scorer - Busby replies that were it not for the providers he would not see the ball. Law was transfer listed the same day. No chance of that now.

Because football isn't built upon communist ideals, it's capitalist. If a footballer is more influential on and off the pitch they're going to earn more money and so they should because they're earning the company that pays them more money.

Are you suggesting Lionel Messi should be paid the same as Victor Valdes? Christiano Ronaldo should get the same as Alvaro Arbeloa?

The system in the NBA works reasonably well. There is a salary cap which is a fixed amount for every team in the league. If you want to pay some big name a huge salary then it just means there is less available for the rest of the team. It's supposed to drive parity across the league. Just a thought

To be honest its our fault. I just got a letter from Sky saying my subscription if going up by £3.00 a year. No doubt this money is just going to end up in the football players pockets.

If they want to sort out the wages they should cap the amount a TV company can pay for the rights to the EPL. Or a cap on how much sky (or the other TV companies) can charge their customers.

We all pay for sky (well a lot of us do), we are crave success for our club. The bottom line is Sky pay the clubs a lot of money for the rights, the clubs in turn pay their star players that money to stay in the EPL.

Everyone is saying its the greedy players, but its us paying their wages. If we all stopped our sky sports subscription tomorrow they would have a massive problem.

It will all come crashing down eventually just like the music business has, as the internet gets faster and illegal streams get better people will stop paying for sky.

Not just at our club, but in football in general..The wages is really getting out of hand at a time when the majority of people are struggling badly..
