1. Think he will be CAM/CM eventually but yeah needs more time on the wing to gain experienc 2. Said the same last season 3. Looked sharper so far but deffo need someone better in. 4. Mert is better than he is given credit for. However the 2 combined are our best CB pairing - also highlights how bad we need another CB - Papadoupolus at Schalke is my shout. 5. League cup for now. Maybe odd start of the bench in PL against small teams. Think the intensity of the league will muller him. 6. See above 7. ROSICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8. True but I am 100% ok with him being selfish if it means he tries to score. Most of us get annoyed at the intricate setup play at times. If he is gonna be a shoot first player then great. As long as he keeps up the scoring rate of last season. I am more than happy for him to continue.
No, I was going to say that I think playing two games in two days shows how short of depth we are. I'm still not convinced that the first XI need more than one or two changes, but the 2nd XI is nowhere near good enough, particularly with TV and Monreal missing. I think Wenger used this week-end to just make sure what his priorities are in the transfer market. Certain players were very much playing for a place on the squad. Virtually everyone under 21 was, I would say. I think next week against Man City you will see the first XI play and will be able to draw better conclusions. I also expect you will see some movement in the transfer market this week.
Agree with all your points. Re point 2, with what we have, yes they are probably our strongest pairing. However if we bring in an actual holding midfielder like Gustavo to partner Wilshere, I think we will see far great results. I think most of us can agree that Giroud is nowhere near good enough but for me the problem has always been midfield. Ramsey gives the ball away too much and Arteta has the creativity of a cardboard box. They are good for grinding out results which we needed last season but in big games they just aren't going to do it for us.
I hope you're right, considering we play Citeh next weekend, and they have strengthened considerably.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-on-sanogo-drogba-and-transfers "Let's count first on what is here, and if we can add something then we will do"
Wenger on possible transfers after the match today: "Let's count first on what is here, and if we can add something then we will do. It's very difficult to predict that that will all be sorted out before we play in the Champions League qualifier. I think we have enough quality to achieve it with the players we have at the moment, if we can bring more in before that it is even better."
IF? What does he mean IF? Plainly he hasn't been watching the matches, because from where i'm sitting (with a very nice can of lager) it looks like we're a bit ****e and could do with some new faces.
1. Completely disagree and he doesn't give the ball away deep in our own half. If he isn't good enough to play midfield he needs to be sold because he is just plain not good enough then. As a winger, he is a million miles away from Cazorla/Podolski/Walcott. 2. Yep. 3. Is that an Insult? - So is Ibrahimovich and now Falcao. 4. Always said CBs need to be judged as a pair. Does Kos need Per perhaps? All you experts thought Kos was crap when he was playing alongside TV. 5. Ox isn't ready for midfield, but Zelalem is? Can't see how you can make this statement and expect to be taken seriously. Particularly when you are so harsh on other people. 6. Yes but you haven't said why Giroud is so terrible or why Higuain gets a pass on looking like a donkey yesterday, but Giroud scores a goal and is terrible? You just keep hurling insults. 7. Rosicky was sharp. 8. Dumb comment when made about a striker, really shows a lack of knowledge about the game at any decent level.
What a bunch of ****chop vultures you emos are It was only a friendly. We made half a dozen subs ffs & we wouldn't be doing that if it was a serious match. We owned the game for the first half, but the emos seem to be blind to that fact...I wonder why? Anyone trying to use this tournament as a measuring stick with which to beat up the club should all pack their bags and **** off to the spuds board because you are only here to attack AFC whenever you think you have the opportunity, imagined or otherwise. Other than that, the atmosphere sitting amongst the Turks was great
mmm he doesnt wind me up in the slightest, he is just a speck of dust on my shoe , irrelevant and easily ignored. dont see why he annoys you so much . Just ignore the fool , you know you have an ignore button dontcha ?
Neither would the opposition, but both Napoli and GS gave less minutes to their first teamers this tournament compared to Arsenal. Squad depth counts for something, and this type of tournament can do enough to show your weakness in that.
This. We have had this constant excuse making and bald faced lying for so long that any assurance that they are "working hard to bring players in" is meaningless. The squad needs several top quality reinforcements - that is the long and the short of it. They have had a month to do something about it and have done **** all. No excuse will be good enough if we reach September and haven't strengthened the squad sufficiently. Tick tock Arsene....
Giroud is a decent backup. I'm glad we have him in the squad. He's a good player. But the issue is this.. We play a high line, commit our fullbacks and wide players, we even push our DM(when we play one) high up the pitch. Without a WORLD class striker this style of football fails. In order to make this work at the Top level you need genuine attacking quality. Sign a Suarez/Rooney/Lewandowski quality forward and you will be suprised how much better the whole team looks.
