Most of these are fairly predictable really. Couple of interesting ones though: Ricciardo having been ahead of Vergne for a higher number of laps suggests that the former has done a better job than his points total would suggest. Bottas has the handle of Maldonado in qualifying but is behind in the races, but not by a large margin. Sutil and di Resta are closer than I thought they were.
I think that's more to do with him starting the race ahead of Vergne, those stats would suggest that Ricciardo will qualify ahead in Spa, but Vergne will pass him around lap 25 and then stay ahead.
I feel Vergne is unlucky this year as Ricciardo seems to have the upper hand on the Red Bull seat, even though Vergne i feel is doing a better job. Although i will admit Vergne's Qualifying is shocking and is on average +1.372s behind RIC

Vergne Ricciardo

Race Finishes 6 8

Race Finishes in points 3 3

Finishes ahead of team mate 3 1

Average finishing position 10 12.4

I think Vergne generally has more luck than Ricciardo. Ricciardo is comprehensively beating Vergne in all areas other than points scored, which indicates bad luck on Daniel's part.
Vergne's qualifying compared to Ricciardo: please log in to view this image Don't really like to see this sort of comparison between team mates, usually if they're any good they're pretty evenly matched rather than erratic like that. Ricciardo's had the upper hand in qualifying but he's still been thrashed twice in ten races. Vergne's been over 4/10ths off the pace in half the grands prix, that's just nowhere near good enough for Red Bull, no wonder they ruled him out straight away.
lol, are you kidding? Vergne has had at least 3 of his races totally ruined by the stupidity of others, Vergne was well ahead of Ricciardo in China (Ricciardos best result) when Webber smashed into the back of Vergne, otherwise Vergne would be even further ahead of Ricciardo. It aint what you do on saturday, it's what you do on Sunday that counts and lets not forget Ricciardo has has much more time in F1 than Vergne, what the results tell me is that Vergne is the better in race conditions and Ricciardo fast on an empty track. And lets not forget that Vergne outscored Ricciardo in his debut season 16 points to 10.
What the stats show is that Ricciardo is faster than Vergne. I'd much rather a faster diver who needs work on his racecraft, than a slower driver with better racecraft.
what the stats show is a rookie has beaten his team-mate in his first season and is beating him again in his second, and we really don't know the story, maybe Vergne is a lot smarter and sets his car up to race rather than go fast for 1 lap, personally I'd prefer a driver that's going to score more points on Sunday than one that looks good on saturdays when it doesn't really matter.
Ricciardo's racecraft will improve with experience. Vergne's raw pace is unlikely to. With Toro Rosso drivers it's all about potential.
Ricciardo comes across as more likable which helps his cause with a company like red bull. Also as lotus are proving quali speed still means a lot, the fastest race car is no good if you're stuck behind others.
It's interesting to note, considering you seem to think Ricciardo is so much faster than Vergne, that the only times Ricciardo has set faster racing laps than Vergne this season has been when Vergne has retired early, and Ricciardo has set his laps much later in the race than Vergnes retirements, and the times that Ricciardo has retired early Verge has set his fastest laps while Ricciardo has still been on track.
The problem is that if Vergne continues to struggle in qualifying then he'll essentially have the problem Button has when he loses form, which is he gets stuck outside the top 10 or qualifies in the bottom half of it and finds the margins aren't there in the top teams, meaning he's restricting his chances of high points.
