Will update after every GP from now on! Personal bias included. Australia/// Lotus *Lotus in a league of it's own. Malaysia/// Ferrari * Alonso should of won, Ferrari had a shocker. China/// Ferrari *Alonso dominated and nobody came close. Bahrain/// Red Bull / Ferrari Equal between the two, DRS failure made to look larger. Spain/// Ferrari *Again Alonso and Ferrari in a league of their own. Monaco/// Mercedes / Red Bull *Equal between the two, track limitations being factor. Canada/// Red Bull *Vettel in a league of his own. Great Britain/// Mercedes *Mercedes had it in their pocket, no way was RBR equal in pace + test-gate. Germany/// Red Bull / Lotus *Pretty even between the two, maybe Lotus slightly but nothing major. Hungary/// Mercedes / Red Bull / Lotus *Very hard to separate the 3 as track heavily influenced the race. RBR at 5 races Ferrari at 4 races Mercedes and Lotus at 3 races Personal opinion with order of the most complete cars (over the whole season), not neccesary being the best car now. Red Bull Lotus Ferrari Mercedes Force India McLaren Toro Rosso Williams Sauber Marussia Caterham
An interesting thread, SAINZ. And perhaps useful too! You mention "bias" but it looks pretty well-balanced to me. That said, I'd be interested to know exactly what you use as criteria to come up with a definitive "best".
Alonso of last season (in terms of both luck and skill) would probably have won 4/5 races so far this season, he's only won 2
I disagree with a couple Silver: Australia/// Lotus - Kimi was able to do one stop less and was still the fastest guy at the end of the race Malaysia/// Ferrari - Bit of guesswork here, but Red Bull were struggling in qualifying while it was dry, I think Alonso would've won without the first corner accident China/// Ferrari *Alonso dominated and nobody came close. Bahrain/// Red Bull / Ferrari / Lotus - I'm chucking Lotus in there, they qualified 9th and 11th and both finished on the podium. Raikkonen's Q2 time would've been good enough for 6th, he should've qualified higher Spain/// Ferrari *Again Alonso and Ferrari in a league of their own. Hungary/// Mercedes - Mercedes were fastest in my opinion. I thought they had the best qualifying pace which is important at Hungary, but they also had a big straight line advantage over RB and Lotus which helped Hamilton clear traffic. Red Bull and Ferrari - 4 Lotus and Mercedes - 3
Australia: I agree actually thinking about it again, Kimi said he wasn't even pushing during the race, but they did struggle in qualifying. If Alonso qualified better he would of pushed Kimi more and maybe not get stuck behind Vettel, Massa and Sutil during the race. China: Thinking about it again wasn't it Kimi's own fault for allowing that gap to be so big? Eric said Kimi lost something like 0.6 a lap after his contact with Perez. But Alonso said he wasn't pushing either so maybe it can still be Alonso's. Bahrain: Again thinking about it wasn't Massa ahead of both Lotus' before his tyre blowout x2? Also felt Alonso should of been on pole but he made significant errors in the final sector. Its true that Lotus got a 2-3 but I think without misfortune Ferrari were going to easily achieve that and maybe more. Hungary: Again don't want to be majorly biased but I reckon Mercedes were REALLY! REALLLLY!!!! sandbagging during practice but I wouldn't be able to prove it. He even said the lap wasn't that good so the car is still a massive force in qualifying which could of gone even faster by their words, that and Rosberg had a brake bias failure and still qualified 4th!
It certainly has been the best in certain places and was in Hungary. It'll be interesting to see if it still is post summer. (Yes... I'm hoping it is )
I'm happy as Luca supports me in saying Ferrari had the best car from the start of the season. That and Ross Brawn plus! Stefano back in March.
Ferrari are still doing their semi dodgy test but that's just not helping them. I mostly agree with your list silver, although drivers and strategies are having big effects.
