Due to a balls up over my season ticket, I found myself having to queue to buy a matchday ticket today. No problem I thought, I got to the ground at 2.15pm and took my place in the queue which at the time was about 30 yards long. At 3.25pm, the queue was still about 15 yards long and there was absolutely no chance of getting in before half time at which point, I was so angry that I thought **** it and came home. I would add at this point that THEY WERE STILL CHARGING FULL PRICE TO GET IN At about 2.30 when 2 people had bought tickets since my arrival and when it became obvious that there was a serious problem and the queue was going nowhere fast, I and a few others grabbed various yellow jacketed persons (I call them that because there was no stewarding to be seen) and asked them to get management on the scene to sort it out. Without exception, they all said "nothing to do with me mate, speak to the head steward" who was conspicuous by his absence. I suggested to various stewards that the ticket office just take the money and let people who had paid in via the gate next to the ticket office but this suggestion was repeatedly declined. I also spotted Adam Baker** at about 2.40pm - he could see what was happening and I told him it was an absolute disgrace and get someone to sort it out - NOTHING HAPPENED EDIT & CORRECTION: IT WAS DAVID LLOYD, MY APOLOGIES TO ADAM BAKER As it appeared that noone had either the intelligence or authority to make a decision, I asked every "steward" I could see to ask Jon Lansdown to come and make a decision and sort the mess out RESULT, COMPLETE AND TOTAL INDIFFERENCE By about 3.05pm, the queue was backed up out of the main gate when someone finally had the sense to tell the Bradford fans who were in the queue to go to the away end were they got in, MEANWHILE, CITY FANS WERE COMPLETELY IGNORED Finally, I went into the shop and again demanded that they get someone in management to come and sort it out and eventually, someone took responsiblity and started selling tickets in the shop at 3.15pm but this was no quicker than the ticket office. At this point, I wandered round to the Directors entrance and demanded that Jon Lansdown come down and sort it. The doorman said "he won't come down" at which point, I went home. Talking to someone else who had had enough on the way back to the car, he told me that he had driven from Stourbridge to watch the game and that he would't be doing it again. I was going to renew my season ticket next week along with the 3 others that I normally go with - now, until there is a public apology and some sort of gesture to the fans who were so poorly treated, my money will be staying firmly in my pocket and the club will be missing out on £1,400 income and, I am not alone as there were many people in the queue who said that the club wouldn't be seeing any of their money again. THIS WAS A TOTAL AND UTTER PR **** UP OF MOMUMENTAL PROPORTIONS AND NO ONE HAD THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF INTEREST IN SORTING IT OUT ONCE AGAIN, AT THE START OF A NEW AND OPTOMISTIC SEASON, THE CLUB HAS SHOT ITSELF IN THE FOOT BEFORE THE FIRST KICK OF A BALL IN ANGER
I'd say I was surprised but frankly I'm not. The club are way too arrogant and conveniently forget who pay the players wages Disappointed for you and a very disappointing result to start the new season, especially when we were leading twice....Really not the start I wanted.
im not surprised. many times I have walked past a long queue all queueing for match day tickets which I guess maybe the club will just turn around and say that its a benefit for season ticket holders that they can basically go straight in. The only time recently I can remember having to get a ticket on the day was the Southampton pre season friendly last year where tickets were buy on the day and that was shocking as they only had two people EVERYONE so think we only just got in.
I hope you have a go at the club, terrible treatment and so frustrating that no one would help, bunch of ****ers
the club has always struggled with large crowds the lack of match day staff selling tickets is ridiculous
We unfortunately support a club that has no idea how to run a football club in any sense of the word. The happenings both on and off the field are a disgrace to all concerned and when there is no leadership from the top level they wonder why we get upset. To treat the people who help pay the wages in this manner is totally unacceptable, and when you remember all the rhetoric that has come out of the office and the supposed commitment to change the entire structure and attitude of Bristol City Football Club it must surely lead you to the conclusion that this lot couldn't organise a piss up in brewery. Shameful start to the season on all levels and I don't expect things to change soon because they certainly haven't in the recent past. Great crowd but the bad taste left in your mouths must make you wonder why you support this lot, and to see Prem so upset makes me realise how bad things are -shame!
You know what you get when you pay peanuts Mike - they could see that there was a major problem but none of them had the balls or intelligence to take the initiative and make a decision or at least get someone who could. There was lots of walkie talkie stuff going on and I want to know who was on the other end making the (non) decision, someone's head needs to roll...
Shocking to read and they want a new stadium which could hold 30,000! What would they do if we ever sold that out. Would be mayhem
The problem today was the scanners wasn't working which is also the problem why season tickets were being hand delivered this morning by some players.
Last season my season card wouldn't scan. Had this problem for the first 3 home games. They eventually decided to give me a new card. Was so embarrassing going down there to have it rejected and to be walked back down the steps.....
We bought tickets on line for the Dolman stand, but couldn't print them off- We were promised that they would be put in the post, but they never arrived. I did luckily, get some sense out of the ticket office yesterday, was given a hyper link and did print them off, I understand this didn't work for everyone. We got to the ground at 2,15 too- saw the queue and thought that there was no way that this would be cleared by 3pm- When we got to the turnstyle, we were told the printed tickets wouldn't work!- Luckily, we were directed to a steward who scanned them and let us in the gateway. We also bought 2 shirts today, there was one heck of a queue for those too- I can only sympathise with anyone that was in that queue today and can only say that we were lucky to get in on time. It does make you wonder sometimes how much the supporters patience is tried
Been to my niece's wedding today and I really feel for you Prem. The City administration is a joke. Anyway I hope I haven't tread on anyone's toes but I've cut and pasted your comments and emailed them to David Lloyd. I'll let you know if I get any reply.
AT least you hadn't driven more than 500 miles like I did from Blackpool to Scunthorpe via London to be told even though it's pay on the day 'we can't sell you a ticket you should have bought one in Bristol' they were too busy trying to sell tickets for their game against Manchester United to explain why they couldn't sell any tickets for their game against Bristol City and There was NO queue they just kept me standing for 45 mins while they answered loads of phone calls about tickets for their 'BIG' game against Man U this was a couple of years back but it's endemic at all clubs plus Scunthorpe couldn't even be bothered to apologise even to the Football League their email read in effect 'visiting fans should buy tickets before they set out even when we advertise the game as pay on the day' Their senior steward said 'They are a useless lot of cretins in the ticket office this happens game after game they couldn't sell tickets to a chimps tea party even if someone else did all the work'
